“Good Pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 September 2011

Good PUb with rooms, parking at rear in public car park. The rooms are just what you would expect for a pub with rooms, clean and tidy. Ours was in the attic which if you had walking difficulties might have been difficult. Helpful staff, great beer, and an excellent breakfast.
Unfortunately we didn't get to eat an evening meal in the restaurant which looked great. The Sun is centrally located handy if you are on trip to the Shepherd Neame Brewery. It is within staggering distance.
All in all a good pub with rooms, nothing fancy.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front, it may be quieter, but we didn't notice excessive noise from the st...

Comfortable bed spacious room and large bathroom and could have been good.
It was a hot night so we had to have the windows open to get air. So some yelling from the street thru the night. Worse was the banging of the kitchen door! Apparently the door closer needs replacing or something and I heard that they have been told about this before. Found somewhere else for our return trip. Finding dirt and toenail cuttings near the bed is also a bit offputting.

Firstly I must say what amazingly good value the sun inn offers. The breakfast is delicious, and the pub really lovely. We were in room 7, over the courtyard, which was quite noisy. The rooms over there all have condenser toilets so that was very noisy together with heavy fire doors, not condusive to a good nights sleep. The room was clean an adequate, albeit very small. Bathroom was a good size and again clean and well appointed.
Little thing that we thought was really nice was that there was lots of milk, tea and coffee, so often you get hardly any milk, so nice touch.
Keep going on about the breakfast, but really was lovely in lovely restaurant and made us feel that we had had really good value for money.
We would have loved to have has dinner on the Sunday night and had not been aware that the restaurant was not open on a Sunday, I didn't ask! Very helpful staff though who were very helpful with advice of where we might try.
Altogether a pleasant experience and would happily recommend for a no frills over night stay.

I stayed here with my partner. The accommodation was booked as a special offer along with a brewery tour at the near by Shepered Neame Brewery. The Inn itself is a wonderful old building with loads of character serving great beers and good wines. We stayed in Room 9, which overlooked the courtyard so was a little noisy until the pub closed at 11pm. We were there mid-week so the clientelle were not too rowdy, just good natured and once the courtyard was empty it was pretty quiet. The room itself was small, but cosy, with a large en-suite. The decor was good and clean, but is just starting to look a little tired. The unusal feature of our room was that there was a slope in the floorboards which caught us out a few times. This meant that the bed was also on the slope which was a slightly odd sensation at night.

Breakfast included a good selection of cereals and fruit, some good quality toast and the cooked breakfast was of a good quality too. However, the breakfast was let down slightly by the fact that the coffee sereved was instant, in a tea-pot and quite weak. It's seams quite odd that the Inn goes to the trouble of serving good quality food but is let down by serving rubbish coffee. I would of at least expected a filtered coffee machine, especially since they have a 'bean-to-cup' machine for restaurant diners.

One final thing to note, and this is a critism of Faversham, not the pub, is the parking. There is parking out the back, but it's a maximum of 4hrs. If you need long-term parking then use the smaller car park that is closer to the brewery, on the other side of West Street.

In summary a good quality Inn, but let down slight;y by a few niggles.
