This establishment has an ambience that might be thought of as a bit quirky, in a 'bistro' style with an eclectic range of furnishings and a layout that enables the 'hosts' to be a part of the package - overseeing and attentive. Very enjoyable.
However the full menu on offer featured local fish and local produce and would also have been an attractive option. Prices are a little extravagant but still retained fair value and the wine list offered interesting options.
On this occasion a group of us were served a selected set menu and it was very good indeed. Presentation and cooking being top notch and enjoyed by all.
The cooking was individual, prime quality and attractive, in a 'continental' style.

We were very much looking forward to our dinner at Frog and Scot, and had high expectations after having read other TripAdvisor reviews. However, although we enjoyed our dinner, we came away feeling a little underwhelmed and disappointed. The dinner was good, no question - but was not amazing, and it seemed rather expensive for what we got. I guess we expected more of a high-end restaurant experience in view of the relatively expensive prices. The chairs, tables and overall decor also seemed a bit basic (we guess the restaurant is trying to engender a relaxed rustic feel, but in view of the prices we perhaps expected a little more in terms of comfort and decor).

If the meal had been a little better (e.g. enabling the clearly talented chefs to demonstrate a bit more creativity), or if it had been a little less expensive, or if the furnitute/decor had been a bit nicer, we would have rated it 4 out of 5, at least. But on the basis of our overall experience we feel we can unfortunately only give it a 3.

We hope some of the above matters can be attended to, as Frog and Scot is a good addition to the High Street and has great potential, and we'd really like to see it flourish.

After a long day of traveling a good dinner was needed. My family and I wanted to go eat at the best restaurant in town but... it was CLOSED! So we turned the corner and went to Frog and Scot. We thought it was going to be a little average quick place to eat but we were wrong. The food was extremely delicious for such a small place. It was cozy and had great service. The scallops were beyond amazing. A perfect little French place on the coast of England. It was great.

We were a late booking for the restaurant but they squeezed us in on a busy Good Friday night. Very glad they did! First time we have been but the food was fantastic. The crab risotto was one of the nicest things I have ever eaten.
Very relaxed but lively atmosphere. Despite being busy the service was very attentive. Amazing wine list, very extensive and some delicious whiskey cocktails! Will definitely be back.
