The family have been to this holiday cottages complex numerous times and the reason for returning is that it's very good but it's changed ownership and unfortunately it's gone down dreadfully.
On arrival the reception was closed so we had to make phone calls to find our cottage and the key.
Eventually we got the keys but we were disappointed as the cottage was the last home on the exit road.
As we got in the first thing we were alarmed with was the amount of flies!
We opened all the windows, once we secured a key to open them, to let them out.
The inside windows were covered in cobwebs!
After asking for the place to be cleaned we discovered that it had been cleaned and then locked up back in July and it hadn't been checked out before we arrived.
The rear decking area was somewhere where you wouldn't want to sit! The bushes were overgrown with brambles and a large plank of wood just propped up against the bush.
Thankfully we were moved to a much nicer, clean and better located cottage and we thank Jackie for sorting this out.
The only issue was similar to the first one and that it hadn't been checked out before we got in so the ensuite bathroom stank but 2 bottles of bleach releived the smell.
The other huge disappointment was that the indoor pool was closed along with the club room. So nowhere to get anything to eat or lounge around having a coffee whilst the kids swam in the pool.
The indoor play area was also shut.
What's worse is that we were not informed before we arrived.
The response we had was that they didn't have those leisure facilities listed on the website!! But having visited this place many times before, we expected this club to be open. So disappointing for everyone.
After the previous great times we've had here, we certainly won't ever return.

We have stayed at a few properties at West Bay but very much recommend Whitfield P7. Great location (right at top of green), lovely decorations and well equipped - you can tell the people who own it love it and it comes through. Has bunk beds in the single room as well which the kids loved and makes it seem extra spacious.

As other reviewers have mentioned the pool is shut which is a real shame but our younger kids (10 and 7) love roaming the greens with the other kids on the site and the Isle of Wight has loads to offer.

Been coming here for over 30 years seen many changes from being savoy country club fantastic to a more surrel west bay cottages
The site itself is beautiful well kept and a lovely relaxing place to be
There is a lot of concern though as this site had a lovely sports complex swimming pool
And many sports activities
Closed now for nearly 18 months said due to
COVID but on speaking to other people dosent seem like it will re open in the near future
There use to be a shop and reception on site
But there is nothing so if arrive late have to go to nearest shops to get supplies most people have a delivery arranged
We love it here and would like to have clarification as we come 2/3 times. A year and it’s quite expensive as to what the future holds as there seem to be confusion on what is going to happen in the future
But don’t let that put you off if u want a lovely base to stay home from home and comfortable accommodation and very well kept lawns with plenty of outdoor space
West bay is ideal with just a 10 mins stroll down to Yarmouth town for restaurants and views
Lymjngton to Yarmouth is the preferred crossing as west bay is 5 mins drive from ferry port if you do come a must is on the rocks restaurant where you cook your own steak chicken on the stone
