Hotel is a little old fashioned, however this suits me as I am as well. The staff couldn't be more helpful, perhaps they could train staff in other hotels I've stayed in.. location of the hotel is first class.More

Room did not look like photo, shabby, and for me lots of street noise, it was very clean though and the bed was comfy.
Biggest issue for me was that’s the door does not have a dead lock, and when I asked to move to a room with a proper lock I was told this was how they all are. As a woman travelling alone I like a door I can actually lock, ratherff than the internal door-knob being turned by the key and then that is the lock… very old fashioned and felt quite uncomfortable.
WiFi does not reach the rooms at the back, this is stated but just to be aware
The staff were super friendly, and very attentive at breakfast

With regards to the one way entry handles, this is something of a historical item. I shall speak with our General Manager as to see if there is maybe something we can loan out for guests such as yourself.

All of the staff were very friendly and helpful at check-in, check-out, and breakfast. The room was large and beds very comfortable. I'd definitely stay at the hotel again for visits to the Isle of Wight. The location is perfect for both ferries from Portsmouth Harbour and the hovercraft from Southsea (which was fun to watch at breakfast).

We came to stay at the Royal Esplanade for a few days visiting from Cornwall to Visit parents who live on the island.
We were treated so well by all the staff who were so friendly and welcoming, we would like to thank everyone for our wonderful stay.
Also the food as amazing!! Our room was beautifully clean! and we will definitely be coming back to stay as soon as we can.

Absolutely loved our weekend at this unique Victorian hotel with incredible seaviews across the Solent! Delicious 3 course evening meal & cosy Harrys bar with superb Malbec. Superior comfy room stylish decor and modern shower room. Best bit was the super friendly staff felt like a family run hotel so helpful and would love to return as Ryde and seafront is beautiful to explore on sandy beach.

We enjoyed our stay from beginning to end. Lovely building with lots of character and large rooms. Staff were lovely and friendly nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant was lovely and service was great. Breakfast was top standard great produce freshly cooked and served . We will definitely return if we visit Ryde again. Fabulous stay from start to finish thank you to the wonderful staff .
