Have not attended a service in the abbey, but the peace of the whole site descends whether visiting the art gallery, tea room or just wandering around looking at the old ruins.

The setting is lovely and peaceful but there is a distinct lack of feeling too it. Some of the paths went absolutely nowhere and we found ourselves just heading back in the direction we had come having seen nothing but a few bushes.
The worst part of the place is definitely the refreshment tent. It looks like something you would find on a fairground, and not at all in keeping with an abbey.

What a most peaceful and spiritual place. Pilgrims Shrine was lovely but also a little ghostly. Cafe was good food looked nice but we only had a drink. You can also feed the pigs which was fun.

This is not an attraction for thrill seekers - it is so peaceful and the pigs are really friendly. When you go in you are greeted by loads of them coming up to you (there is a fence!) and you can buy pig food in the cafe to feed them. Only parts of the Abbey are open, as it is still used by the monks, and the main part is very simple, but beautiful. It's free as well, and the cafe serves good food and has a nice garden to sit in. Not really suitable for kids who like to make a lot of noise and run around but here were some in the garden who seemed to be having fun.

Interesting building but do visit for the tea shop - lovely setting, great cakes and snacks and very reasonably priced
