This was a birthday lunch - the restaurant had a very nice relaxed atmosphere. The wines suggested by the sommelier were excellent and complemented the food well. The starter was excellent, our main was beef which was poor very fatty and cooked medium to well done instead of medium rare as requested. Our waitress was really sloppy her waistcoat was dirty and she was a bit too laid back for our liking. She did not make any attempt to clean the table in between courses which was not appreciated. Overall not the best experience and certainly not value for money, we won't be rushing back.

Limewood is one of our favourite places to eat and can normally not be faulted. Last year we enjoyed one of the best full teas ever and so decided to return to relive the experience. Sadly, it was not what we had come to expect. The sandwiches were quite plain and fell well short of those we had enjoyed previously. The scones were good and the portions of cream and jam generous. However, the cakes were very disappointing and we sorely missed the delicious eclairs with various fillings we were looking forward to. We were given slices of cake to take home which was a nice touch but I'm sorry to say that Limewood will not be our first choice for tea in the future.

Came here earlier in the week as a celebratory meal for our anniversary and we had a lovely time. The only thing that let us down was that we had booked a table the night before and mentioned it was for our anniversary, however when we turned up they had no record of us and we had to wait while the found us a table. But we did get a table in the end and it was very much made up for by the lovely, friendly staff and the incredible food!
We had the rabbit and the mushroom salad to start and the lamb and the hake for main. Everything was delicious - one of the best meals we've had!! And the restaurant is beautifully decorated. Would recommend.

We hadn't been for a long time primarily because unless we are staying the night it's a £100 taxi ride home which is too much to justify. For such a superb and very upmarket hotel the restaurant is a surprisingly casual affair. Personally (with a newly replaced hip) i find the low seating somewhat uncomfortable. However the food makes up for that. It's not an extensive menu which presumably enables fresher produce and the quality is exceptional. We had arrancini nibbles , superb bread and shared a stuffed gnocchi starter. All delicious especially the sauce with the gnocchi. We both had lobster and red mullet linguini and it was cooked to perfection. the shavings on it were red mullet roe dried and whilst that sounds strange it was lovely. The staff were friendly and efficient until they forgot to come for our dessert order. We had a doughnut with lemon balm and other ingredients which neither of us rested but the cup cakes celebrating our anniversary that arrived at the end more than compensated because they were deliciously light and fluffy and moorish. The wine list is extensive , we pushed the boat out with a premier cru puligny montrachet that was fantastic. All in all a superior experience but because of the quality of lime wood it was exactly what we expected. if we hadn't bought such an expensive wine it really wasn't expensive either. the food is on a par with anywhere for miles around (?actually better) but the prices are less than you would expect
