“Very high quality accommodation”

Everything about the property was of a high standard and it was very clean and comfortable. The garden was fine for our westie and she enjoyed being in the cottage. The location was great for easy access to all sorts of places and there were plenty of good pubs and cafes within a reasonable distance.

The only down-side for us was that there was no washing machine and dryer. There was a clothes line and pegs but it rained quite a lot whilst we were there and I would have liked somewhere to wash and dry the dogs towels in particular. My expectation of such a quality cottage is that it should have a washing machine and I need to remember to check in future rather than making an assumption.

The wi-fi was intermittent and the mobile phone signal extremely weak.

“Relaxed and rural”
Reviewed 13 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

This cottage was very well presented situated in a delightful rural setting.Excellent facilities with all necessary appointments.Excellent patio overlooking woods.Great Pub 300 yards and shopping 10 min by car.Hosts very helpful.Small inconveniences were steep stairs and sloping ceilings in bedrooms. We thoroughly enjoyed the week at Maples Barn.

“Dog-friendly, all-you-could-wish-for, country retreat”
Reviewed 6 January 2015 for a stay in January 2015

We loved it at Maples Barn. I stayed there with a friend and took my two Dachshunds who were completely welcomed :-) This little converted barn is clean, warm and the best equipped rental I have ever stayed in. Comfortable beds, comfortable sofas, great bathroom and shower room, as well as an exceptionally good kitchen. The garden is secure and secluded and overlooks amazing countryside. The owl calls at night from the copse across the fields were delightful :-)
We had a couple of reasons to contact the owners (living nearby) and they were delightfully helpful. Whilst staying at Maples Barn we had a few days out - to Stonehenge and Jane Austen's house - as well as enjoying the local delights of woodland walks, a visit to the sweet little local church and the 'Pink Olive' Indian restaurant (good quality food and service despite the odd name!). We definitely hope to be back. Thank You Mr & Mrs Griffin x

Liked best: The high spec finish and consideration shown by the owners.
Liked least: A DVD library would have been a nice offering. We looked but couldn't find one.

“Devoid of character”
Reviewed 22 December 2014 for a stay in December 2014

We felt as though we had stepped into a Scandinavian furniture showroom. Not at all what we had expected from a beautiful converted barn. Plain in every sense of the word with no English country home ambiance at all. Pristine but totally devoid of personality. The owners are delightful with a warm welcome however. WiFi would not work at all.

Management Response
1 Jan 2015
We are pleased to read that our guests felt they received a warm welcome. We are surprised that the internal décor was not what they were expecting and would recommend that all future guests look at all the photographs of the property together with the description to avoid any confusion. Maples Barn is a fairly new construction with a modern interior. Unfortunately we were not aware that the WiFi was not working until our guests departed. The property has its own broadband line and we would encourage guests to bring this and any other issue to our attention as soon as possible so that we can investigate and, hopefully, rectify. In this case, the WiFi was restored simply by turning it off and then back on!

“A must for a luxury relaxing holiday”

We stayed at Maples Barn this week and can only say that this is the nicest cottage which has been adapted to the highest specifications. Gill and her husband were charming. There was nothing that hasn't been thought about from stuff to entertain children too chews for the dog (Lucy was delighted) Great walks close by. We had the best ever Indian takeaway from the PINK OLIVE.
I would 100% recommend to all you will not be disappointed.
