We had a really lovely time exploring the forest of dean with 'the little acorn' as our base. The apartment is in a really great location for exploring with useful amenities on your doorstep. 30 seconds walk to parkend station from which you can start a journey on the dean forest railway and a ten minute drive to puzzlewood among other places and walks being really close by.
The property itself is clean, tidy, well presented but also warm and cosy. It is listed on trip advisor as a studio apartment, this does it a disservice. There is a large, separate kitchen which was perfect for us, so if put off by the idea of a studio don't be. The living and bed space is one space but it is really big, really cosy and comfortable. It was ideal for us as a place to stay and Michelle was really friendly and helpful. Milk, tea, coffee, sugar and some biscuits were all there already to get us going, what else do you need?
This was a real find. Beautifully clean, modern and comfy wifi absolutely essential there and the host made sure we had the code to contact our children with and even offered her house phone if we'd prefer
We visited castles and abbeys, beautiful autumnal walks, sculpture trails and caves to name but a few.
The best evening was spent at nearby lydney harbour. So calm.
Nearby village shop and bike hire (if you're feeling energetic ) and 2 pubs (if you're not ) Steam train and go ape nearby.
Truly a lovely place to stay and a lovely break.
What a fantastic place to stay. A great no pressure no hassle welcoming late on a Friday night. Everything you could want and need for in the property, warm, quiet, spotlessly clean, modern and new. Great access, easy parking and easy to find. Close to local amenities especially the Mountain biking trails the reason we visited. The Owner is the perfect host. Would highly recommend 5 stars!!!
Marvellous self contained accommodation with all amenities. Better than a five star hotel. Beautiful setting. Steam railway on doorstep, local pubs and forest walks.
Coming back again. Wonderful hostess, very very friendly.
My boyfriend and I have just come back from the Little Acorn and would highly recommend it. The location is perfect with two local pubs 'Woodman' and 'The Fountain' serving excellent food, a post office where we could pick up some toothpaste we had forgotten, a track leading to a great cycle route leading to pedal away (great food and atmosphere with fellow cyclists!). The accommodation was beautifully presented, warm and cosy with excellent facilities. Would of loved to have spent longer but had to get back to real life. A perfect retreat for a tired teacher! Thanks Michelle :)
