“Great little stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2012 via mobile

We arrived late Saturday and the Sandrock car park was full but Jill kindly moved her car in order for us to park outside the hotel.
The location is just brilliant. Moments away from the beach, shops and pier.
Our room was fine and as described. It was clean and comfortable.
As mentioned by others, we were amazed to have sheets and blankets rather than duvets. Only other thing was the shower dripped continuously and has obviously done so for some time as the lino was coming up from the floor.
Breakfast was great. A fine selection of food was on offer and very good it was too.

Paul and Jill were very helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. I spoke with Paul before the trip via phone and email as was booking 2 rooms for us and my parents and wanted to check some details. We received a nice, warm welcome. Parking was fine. We paid £67 per room; it was on Saturday 9th June.

We had an early check-in as we were going to a wedding, which was really useful. We were given local information and cabs called for us. The rooms were bright and airy with a view of the sea to the side. Both rooms had en-suites. Can't remember the last time I used sheets and blankets but no worries - the beds were comfy and we slept like logs. The breakfast was fabulous - first class - and plenty of it. There was no rush to leave, we took our time and that was fine.

It's not posh or minimalist modern but perfectly good and the service was second to none. We'd stay there again - thanks Paul and Jill xx

Room Tip: The two rooms at the front are large and you can see the sea. Not sure about the others.......

Welcoming host, clean and comfortable room with side sea view.

Very good value for the location and standard £57 for one nights B&B for two. TV, kettle tea & coffee, hairdryer. Sufficient shower at bit tight if 6'2".

No complaints about the breakfast, cereal, juice, hot full breakfast or porridge, toast, tea or coffee.

Negetives - hearing our male neighbours ablutions at 5.30am through the paper thin wall and the waitress needs an apron to cover her stomach, very off putting during the service.

Enjoyed our one night stay.Room was clean and comfortable, but would maybe have preferred duvets to blankets and sheets on the beds? Breakfast was particularly good, and Paul did an excellent job getting everyone served quickly and professionally. We would stay at The Sandrock again.

Room Tip: The front rooms have views of the sea,and the pier was very colourful at night.

Couldn't have asked for anything more from my stay at The Sandrock. I arrived with my daughter to a lovely welcome from Paul who carried my bag from the car up to my room . The room was very clean and of good size. Comfortable beds, hot chocolate, tv/dvd, biscuits, lots of storage and enough hangers, also a fantastic book listing the best places to eat and a map of the area etc. We had a delicious cooked breakfast in the morning and plenty of toast. Paul was most helpful and we will most certainly stay there again on return to Clacton.
