“Wedding Venue”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2012

We held our wedding at this venue two weeks ago. It was a lovely place with lots of character. The staff were very courteous and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We held our reception in the Henry VIII room which was adequate for the number of people we invited without being too cramped. The food was excellent and the waiters were on the ball. Everything ran like clockwork, mainly due to the services of Michael, the resident Master of Ceremonies, to whom we give special thanks. The dancing in the evening was excellent due to the resident DJ who played the right music for the age group (25 yrs to 91 yrs though mainly 60 yrs upwards). We would highly recommend this hotel as a wedding venue.

Room Tip: Because of the age of the building, we understand rooms vary in size and there are no lifts so sugge...

I have just left the Margreen Manor Hotel after staying in their apartments for 2 years for business purposes. The apartments, which are seperate from the hotel, are comfortable and well kitted out, but dated. Some additions were needed once I had settled in, but the Manager was more than happy to meet my requests. First impressions of the building are a bit off putting but once inside it met all my needs for a long term stay particularly as all all I did was sleep there, although the family did stay over some weekends and it was more than comfortable. Staff could'nt have been more helpful and professional. Everything was attended to promptly and without fuss. I would recommend the Marygreen apartments to anyone who is looking for a short or long term let. Easy access to London for a day trip and to Brentwood which is a very pleasant town.

Thanks to all staff and management who made my stay away from my family as best they could.

Steve, Sutton Coldfield

Room Tip: Top floor apartments recommended.although no lift, light airy and comfortable. New TV in Apartment 1...

We chose the Marygreen Manor for our wedding reception as we wanted a place with character, an intimate venue, and also I had had my 40th birthday there in 2010, and the service and food was great.
We met with Cyril, the assistant manager, who was extremely helpful, and pleasant to deal with. he provided us with some sound advice regarding the amount of food to order for the evening, and also the format of our day.
the staff on the day were also very good and accommodating. We used the Tudors restaurant for our wedding lunch, which we were given exclusive use of, the lounge area for coffee, and then the bar and conservatory in the evening. the staff pulled a curtain across in the bar area, which meant the area was exclusive to us and were very accommodating.
We could not believe it the next day when we received a small refund towards the cost of our day as we had not used all the wine. How refreshing to come across an establishment with such integrity, who are not hell bent on squeezing every penny out of you possible, when they hear the word "wedding"!!! Really great!
thanks to all the staff for their great service and for making our wedding day very special.

Regarding the Jane Seymour suite, we loved the history in the place, and the four poster bed. The place could do with a bit of freshening up and the jacuzzi bath was not working, or at least we couldn't get it to work. But the garden and whole environment of the Marygreen Manor is lovely. Am sure Henry VIII loved it too...

Room Tip: The Jane Seymour room is at the front so a little more noisy than the rooms at the back. But that d...

Just returned from a lovely 1 night stay. Charming hotel, friendly greeting from receptionist and good service from all restaurant staff. We took afternoon tea in the conservatory which was delicous. Lovely warm scones and a good selection of cakes and sandwiches. We had a courtyard room, which was a nice size, but could do with refurbishment, peeling wallpaper and dated decor. However, the room was immacuately clean and ample for the little time we spent in it. The hotel was hosting a murder mystery evening, so we didn't dine there. And because of this the lounges were very quiet. We were the only couple using the bar on our return back to the hotel, from dining, at around 10pm. Breakfast in the morning had a good selection of continental or full english and was nice too.

Overall a lovely hotel, will definately return to try out the restaurant for evening dinner.

Hotel is very nice, staff friendly amd personable. Only complaint is that we were double booked (booking had been confirmed online) so we were taking to an 'apartment' which was awful and not up to 4* Mary Green manor standards. It looked like an ex council block of flats, there was stained carpets, the decor had not been updated and neither had the furniture (mismatching and very dated) this would have been ok for a budget break, but not for a treat in a 4* hotel that we had booked for.
Reception did look for another room for us and after an hour we had our original booking (I'm not sure how they did it).
It was a disappointing start to the weekend, but staff continued to be friendly. The rooms in the hotel are set out across a pretty courtyard and most definitly worth a stay!
