Visited here recently with around 20 others for a birthday dinner. It was my first time calling in even though I had driven passed it virtually every day for many years.
First impression of the exterior was good with a well maintained building with plenty of parking spaces. Interior was pleasing too with plenty of space between the tables which is ideal if you are looking for a certain amount of privacy whilst enjoying your meal.
There was music being played when we arrived at 6:00pm at a volume which wasn’t too distracting but loud enough to be heard should you wish to listen to a track. By the time we left the music was replaced by someone playing the piano, again not too loud.
Staff were extremely friendly and eager to please. Because we were a large group we had two lovely staff members discretely overlooking our long table virtually all the time and instantly came to assist anyone needing anything. As discrete as their presence was, it only took eye contact and a smile before someone would come to ask what I needed. Very impressed.
When the starter arrived ( king scallops) it looked appetising and certainly didn’t disappoint when being eaten as it tasted great. This was the same for the main which in my case was the roasted pork. Partner had a medium rare rump steak which I thought was a bad idea given she has never been totally happy with the outcome elsewhere in all the time she’s lived in the UK from France. Turned out to be the best steak she has had for years!
Toilets were very clean and well maintained. My only criticism was the fact all toilet doors opened inwards so you still needed to use your hands to open them to leave, which isn’t hygienic given so many people nowadays don’t wash their hands.
Even though this restaurant is a twenty five mile round trip from where we live, I’m sure it will become a place we’ll revisit many times in the near future.
