The Blacksmiths had a very good menu, the food cooked to perfection and well presented. All the staff were very friendly.

My family and i booked the Blacksmiths restaurant for a surprise 60th birthday meal for my mum. We have been here many times before for different occassions ie mothers day, christmas meals, family gatherings. It has a homely atmoshere and is run by family for many years, real service with a smile!
Good choice of menu, if you want some thing different (given enough notice its always possible) fabulous sweet trolley!! We had a strawberry gateau made for my mum wow!! was not the word for it. Would definately recommend to try here, romantic setting if your looking for a meal for two! :0)

The welcome was warm and inviting. The atmosphere was cosy and comfortable. Unfortunately the food was average. Specifically my smoked haddock fishcake starter could only be described as potato cake with a hint of fish flavour, not a piece of fish in sight. My husbands starter of whitebait very good. Our main was roast pork and almost every slice was striped with bone and therefore inedible. They did offer to replace it but felt the chef should not have put it on the plate in the first instance. The drinks we had one small beer and one small glass of house white which was £7.50 which we thought was expensive for a provincial restaurant. This was very disappointing as we live locally and would have liked to think it could be a regular occasion.
