Managed to book this accommodation last minute which is extremely lucky as this level and high standard accommodation would usually be fully booked many months/years in advance.
I am a full time wheelchair user with a family including children. We were all
well catered for and the disabled access features are unobtrusive making the place feel very homely.
The property has a shared driveway with the friendly owners and has plenty of space.
All the ground floor is fully wheelchair accessible and consists of a large double bedroom with room for wheelchair both sides of bed including turning space. There is a large wet-room with grab rails and free standing shower seat. The toilet is also raised making transfers easier.
The Kitchen-Lounge-Diner again is spacious and very well equipped with fridge, good size freezer, washing machine, dining table and reclining leather lounge sofas, The lounge area leads onto decking through french doors to where garden furniture and barbecue are provided. There is a private secluded garden with washing line and outdoor table/chairs.
I couldn't persuade my wife to give me a piggy back upstairs to take a look but I understand it has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom again of high standard.
The reason for such a descriptive review is that as a wheelchair user it is often difficult to choose suitable accommodation and turning up to a place not fully knowing what to expect can be stressful. This is the first place I have honestly stayed that feels as comfortable as home. The attention to detail plus the thought by the owners into the layout and finishing is fantastic.
My biggest worry is that now I have given such high praise that it will get booked up next time I want to visit!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Woodpecker Lodge. We found the property to be well equipped with good quality items. The welcome pack was excellent and much appreciated. Our party consisted of myself, my partner, daughter, 2 granddaughters and their dog and there was plenty of space for us all. Although the property feels quiet and a bit isolated it is, in fact, very central with many places to visit just a short distance away. We had a mishap during our stay which was dealt with by Martin in a friendly, calm manner. All in all a lovely place to stay.
WOW! What a fabulous lodge, from the minute you walk through the door you feel at home.
A lovely welcome from Martin who showed us around and from then was inobtrusive.
We had the best welcome hamper ever..home made bread, butter, eggs, choccy biscuits, tea, coffee, milk and wine.
Our 18 month old Grandaughter absolutely loved it having free run of thegarden, even mastering the decking step..she had a whale of a time.
We had a barbi most nights..barbi was ready to use and as everywhere was spotlessly clean.
Spacious rooms with comfy beds.
Wet room was a godsend for my Mum who has disabilities.
I cannot speak highly enough of Woodpecker lodge...beautiful.
We will most certainly return.
Thank you to Martin and his wife for a hassle free booking and stay at Woodpecker.
Its a 10 fron Jen
This is our second stay at Woodpecker lodge.
Still immaculate, very well appointed and the owners, Martin and Jackie, are friendly and helpful.
Difficult to fault this lovely holiday home.
Do be aware, like many places in Norfolk mobile signal and TV reception are somewhat unreliable, but the wifi included in the price is a decent connection speed and didn't drop out the entire week we were there.
We would wholeheartedly recommend Woodpecker lodge for a quiet retreat in Norfolk within reach of many great places to visit.
The best self-catering accommodation we have ever stayed in! High quality fittings, immaculately clean and everything we needed for a lovely break in Norfolk. Many thanks!
