My partner and I visited today for the first time in around 18 months. We love the place usually but today that all changed.
We took the dog on the long orange walk of 4.5 miles and enjoyed at least a quarter of it. After paying the £6 parking and setting off we were constantly plagued with mountain bikers going anywhere they chose & constantly having to get out of the way. Then it was 2 dirt bikes speeding around the walking path and soon after 5 4X4 cars, one of which broke down in front of us. The paths were muddy and rutted from wheels of all kind and in places was quite dangerous.
We will not be going back in a hurry.

Beautiful setting and great walk with the contrasting colours and crisp air. We did the gruffalo trail with our nine month old and managed easily with a pram on the walk. Lots of activities to do to make the walk longer for older children such as climbing frames and challenges along the trail. Unfortunately the cafe has permanently shut so bring your own drink and food. There is also a bike rental place but the parking lets this place down as you can only pay for a whole day which is £6 or pay for 1 hour which is £1, no in between.

We have a new puppy and we were on holiday attending a wedding, so we thought it looked like a nice place to visit and we wasn’t disappointed. Lovely scenery great walks on the flat or more strenuous ideal for dogs and superb for people with young children. Lots of activity’s and interests. Well worth a visit. Oh and of course a cafe with a good selection of food and drink for those people not wanting to take a picnic. Excellent Thank you.

This review seems to be describing High Force Waterfall in Teesdale, not Hamsterley.

From personal experience Hamsterley is excellent and offers all kinds of difference types of trails, some fantastic downhills and plenty of climbs too. The skills park is also great.

Parking is pricey though.

Beautiful autumn walk with our 3yo. He had great fun looking for the Gruffalo and co, and the Highway Rat trail kept him interested. £6 for parking seemed a little steep but didn’t mind as all the trails and parks were beautifully kept and the money has to come from somewhere. Easily doable with a pram.

The kids loved it here, the parks are amazing, the Gruffalo walk is fun and there's plenty of parking. The Parking is £6 all day may seem steep for some but trust me its work it. We took a picnic and spare clothes so the kids could play in the water. Excellent for bike rides.

Lovely scenery along the cycle way. Followed the blue route, a few steep hills, couldn’t go very fast on the decline as there was a lot of loose gravel, not ideal on bikes, nearly fell off a couple of times. Found the parking prices a bit on the expensive side, we stayed for under 2 hrs but had to pay £6 for all day parking, we arrived at 1pm. It’s £1.50 to pay for 1 hr, after that it £6. If i was to stay all day I would happily pay for the day. Because of this, I won’t return. I can go elsewhere to ride my bike, for a lot less parking charges

Go every year to this place as it is our favourite place to go every year. We go for whole day and take a picnic and games for all family to play. Loads of walks and rivers to paddle in.

Took a ride through the forest. I suspect it is a lot busier on weekends and during the summer. It was brilliant ride, that takes about an hour, driving gently, from one end to the other. You can enter at the Bedburn end and come out in Woodlands.
If you are in the area with a half day free, go there. For those with children there a many activities which will keep them active and amused for hours.

Shady walk with my neighbour's dog , take wellies, it's always soggy somewhere.
