Went to George’s Hall Bar & Grill for Sunday lunch with a group of friends. I had the ‘trio of meats roast’ which was delicious - pork, chicken, beef, roast potatoes, veg and a massive Yorkshire pudding!

Although the food was lovely, the experience was let down by a long wait for food when the place really didn’t seem very busy. All in all we were there for 3 hours just to have 2 courses.

I would go back again as the food was lovely but hopefully the service will be a bit quicker next time.

We live locally but had not eaten here before mainly due to very mixed reviews. However, we received a voucher for 50% off all food ordered and decided to give it a go. The voucher stated that Georges Hall has recently employed new chefs - just mentioning this in case anyone reading this had a bad experience previously.

We had 2 courses each, starting with the calamari and scampi dish and the chilli prawn and chorizo dish - both were lovely and full of flavour. Then we had Ribeye steak with bourbon and peppercorn sauce, and the the Georges burger (which was enormous). Again very good, only minor criticism would be that my steak was slightly cool and a little overdone - more well done than medium, but perfectly edible.

The service was friendly and competent and we will be returning for more lovely food.

We had Groupon vouchers for steak and prosecco. After showing the waitress our voucher she told us that both the fillet and ribeye steaks were sold out. We wondered if the two most expensive cuts would have been available if we were paying full price. The prosecco was barely chilled and not very pleasant. One of our party was convinced it wasn’t genuine. We were offered the mixed grill as an extra option which two of us chose. The ribs were tender but both the meat and sauce had an unpleasant flavour so both of us left them.My steak came as three little nugget size pieces, one was inedible, the second I could only eat half of it and the third was ok. The chicken was cut so thin it must have been only a third of a breast.I did like the sausages though. On top of that I had an upset stomach through the night. I couldn’t say if it was because of this meal. The sharing starter and bread board were tasty but not good value. One of the party had a whiskey and mushroom sauce which was also left as it was not pleasant. The lighting was very dark which made it difficult to read the menus. None of us plan to return here again.
