Hotel Sonar Bangla is located in front of sea beach. One can see entire sea beach from room balcony. We had double and 4 bedded room which were descent in size with spacious bathroom. Rooms were clean and all modern amenities were there. Food was nice specially bengali cuisine. Breakfast was average and there is not so much variety available. Staff are really good and prompt service. Overall good experience of staying.

Sonar Bangla is one of the premium hotel chains in Bengal and surroundings, but I was not satisfied completely comparing their other property what I heard from my friends and family.

Let’s point out the good things 1st –
Sea-View – excellent, even you are not staying in sea-front rooms, sea is visible from all balconies which is really nice designed indeed.
Location – Beach is on bang opposite and clean comparing other crowded beaches in Puri. Hotel has their own chairs you can use there.
Rooms – are good and enough space inside with attached balcony. Rooms and bathrooms are clean enough. (AC worked fine)

Now come to the concerns –
Water Condition – too bad. Water was too salty and bad smelling, that we used package drinking water for brushing teeth/washing face. I asked why, reception justify, there was an underground pipeline leakage which was due for service. We were 7 in our group and 3 of us having massive stomach upset which ruined rest of our tour.
Restaurant – We had complimentary breakfast and which was average and we had our lunch and dinner there too. The way they kept fruits / salads was unhygienic.

I am not saying it’s worst for staying, but if I am paying enough for my staying in a hotel like Sonar Bangla, I should expect clean enough running water, hygiene food which are very basics.
