“Children love it, so does elders.”
Reviewed 22 June 2012

It was my maybe third visit last week and did not find it boaring at all despite the fact that none of the displayed aircrafts were real.

Saw children, men, elderly people equalilly exited to see all the stuff on display. Parents putting children on gunner bay and taking snaps. Some looking at small scale models, some at the big python skin while others adoring tribal dresses.

Definatly worth a visit, i only wish that they increase the display items and area. Apart from peak, elephant falls this is the other point that all tourists go.

I had to show my ID to get in, just driving license was enough.

“Just another museum”
Reviewed 20 May 2012

Located inside the Air Force campus, the museum is cramped into a small building, and a bunch of vintage aircraft cramped into a small enclosure opposite. It seems to be made more as an attraction for those that havent seen an aircraft in their lives. The displayed information is poorly compiled, poorly displayed, and not tastefully done. Souvenirs are available at the museum. Entrance to the musuem is free, but being inside a military campus, is rife with "security".

“Small well maintained museum with cute warplane models and a Giant Pythons Skin.”
Reviewed 7 March 2012

It is an area opened to public inside the other wise restricted Air Base of Shillong. No charges for entry, nice airplane models on display (pix attached) and there is a skin of a Giant Python on display which swallowed a whole deer. You spend an hour and browse through the war history and then pick up some mementos at the small shop outside.

“Interesting stopover on the Cherrapunji road”
Reviewed 20 October 2011

The museum is a part of the sprawling Head quarter of the Indian Air Force [ Eastern Command ] . These parts saw some real action in the Bangladesh liberation War of 1971. Take a break for an hour or so . There are some outdoor and cultural exhibits too . the small souvenir shop sells inexpensive key chains ; good gifts from Meghalaya . Some valid identity proof will be kept as security while your group is inside the premises . There is no admission charge .
