It's a huge property with very spacious rooms. The Villas can be taken if gone with Family. Among amenities there is swimming pool for adults as well as kids, Badminton court, table tennis and games Room, Garden and kids playing area. The food is very good quality, Delicious and is mostly included in package. Most of the House keeping and support staff are working there since long time.
Must visit place.
The service is extremely slow. High price compared to the amenities. Playing amenities, broken badminton rackets. When asked to give new rackets did not give us for 3 days and the time of check out they showed us the new rackets they already had. The staff kept lying to us till the last date that they don't have new rackets. When we denied paying the extras at the check out due to horrible service, they mentioned they had the rackets but didn't give us due to their internal staff fights.
We came here thinking it's the best property to stay in Matheran, however it is not as they do not know what is customer service. The local staff are polite but due to their internal issues we had to suffer.
It was our second stay (last one was 2 years ago) and were very excited to take a relaxing family break after lockdown, but rude behaviour of senior staff (at reception and restaurant) and sub-standard service dampened our spirits and stay. Support and housekeeping staff were quite helpful. Few examples- arrogant behaviour during check-in, we had requested some arrangements prior to our arrival and it was agreed by them but they forgot to arrange, bad smelling towels, it was mentioned 24 hours service, but kitchen remains closed till 8 am, no tea/coffee in morning or evening in room, sports equipment (badminton rackets) were broken, they gave us a worn out shuttlecock etc.
The property is large and expansive, though a little old style. Due to COVID-19 related shortage of staff there is no room service available - not even tea or coffee is served in the room. The rooms and house keeping service is decent and they also help you get a good rate for Matheran sightseeing on horseback.
Food is disappointing in both the spread options and taste - had both dinner and breakfast at the hotel. You can walk to Sunrise points (Alexander point or Rambaug point) in 15-20 mins from the hotel, though tea and coffee are not served this early at the hotel. Hotel is 10 mins walk from the main market.
Beware to lock your room door and windows securely to avoid monkey raids (we faced this in our room), though this applies to anywhere in Matheran and not just this property!
We had a great trip to Matheran post the New year. Our stay at Usha Ascot was the main reason for this. Our room was facing the poolside, with an open balcony giving direct access to the pool and center area. It was very relaxing sitting in the balcony and viewing the soothing trees and greenery. Food was excellent. There was a different breakfast theme each day with South Indian, maharashtrian and Gujarati. Lunch and dinner was also very good.
After walking to different points each day the kids looked forward to magic show, juggling and housie in the evening followed by live music. The whole family had a great time. Keep it up, Usha Ascot team!
