The approach – Just like any other hotel in Matheran, the approach is through the muddy roads of Matheran. You WILL HAVE TO wash your shoes immediately when you go back.
First look – It seemed like a below average hotel in the middle of a jungle which looked more like the army barracks from the British era.
The Rooms - A look at the rooms from inside made the impression even worse. Huge in size but terrible from all other aspects.
The food – The hotel’s run by a Parsi. Firstly, the idea of having a Parsi serving only pure veg meal didn’t seem interesting at all. The food was served in a thali system and was slightly above average.
The service – The staff was good and helpful but not really trained.
My verdict – I just loved the place itself (Matheran, not Cecil), the weather and the fact that we were sitting in the middle of a jungle and having fun with friends and family. I wish the food was better and the stay more comfortable.
