The hotel is v good for family people who look forward for peaceful change from d normal routine, the staff and the food both are good and the atmosphere is calm, as well the hotel is located nearby the market and the station, so the reaching is very comfortable.

I had a comfortable stay with my family and there were no male members with us, however the atmosphere is very safe and comfortable.
I appreciate the good nature of the staff who are friendly and helptful.

When we reached in Matheran, many hotel's agents tried to take us to their hotels but when I said i have already booked Sayeban, they politely said that its a very good hotel....such is the image of hotel largely through the polite, professional staff and owner. We had booked hotel for 1 night with all meals inclusive through calling them and depositing money (about 2000/-). Food is top class and room though small, we forgot this point compared to warm welcome throughout our stay for 24 hrs. They explained us whole sightseeing places in detail and gave us a pumplet for reference....Talking about food, it is un-limited with exellent quality keeping in mind the oil content and all like home....Its home away from home.

Room Tip: Opt for larger room because basic room is really small

the new ac rooms were quite ok, sourrounding also is quite, just 10mins walk from the station, food too was quite decent, for 1700 a night per couple with food was quite a good bargain.
would definitely stay in this hotel on my next visit.

Room Tip: ac rooms are good

Hotel Sayeban is hardly a 5 minutes walk from the Matheran station and is conveniently located near the main market place, behind the Masjid. We had booked our tickets by paying advance after fixing it up with Mr.Iqbal at their Mumbai office at a rate of INR825 per head.

We took 2 big rooms (the one that you see in the photo on their website) enough for 10 people and were not dissapointed. Most of the rooms have a verandah for you to sip your tea and coffee. The bathrooms were clean. The hotel is not located near any of the points, hence the view is limited, but as I said all points are at walkable distance and thats what you do in Matheran, so no regrets.
There is a small playing space for the kids and jhoolas/swings for the grownups.
The food is served outside and the food we had was really yummy, both non-veg and veg.
the staff is friendly.

We had taken a non-a/c room which had a single fan in the middle of the huge room. This is something they can improve on. The bathrooms were missing out on towels. We didn't check out the other rooms so will not be able to comment on them, though did see a lot of couple is the premises, so assuming they should be good.

Overall, though not the most romantic site, it's an economical place to be in, whether you are with your family, friends or on a romantic outing.

Have been to Matheran for a weekend trip this Jan. On searching through Tripadvisor, I come to accros many expensive Hotels. I was surprise to see prices were ranging from 3500, 4500 to 5000 per night for an average kind of Hotel. And not all were serving non-veg Food. So I zereod on Sayeban Hotel which was serving non-veg & it also got good reviews. But on checking we found the Hotel rooms were not upto mark as per photos given on their website. We were charged Rs 2800 for 1 day 1 night with food. But I thought, its rooms don'nt deserve this amt. It was like staying in Rs 800 catagory room. The only possitive was its surroundings. The entire hotel is surrounded by Trees & it is very near to main market area, yet very silence. There are also few slids, play area for childrens which also adds to some positives. Food was not that good as described by earlier reviews. It was average. Magic show hosted after dinner was excellent. From earlier reviews we tried food at Shabirbhai Biryaniwala who is very close to Sayeban Hotel. The expereince of having lunch there turned worst. A very cheap type of food preparations. And the guy charges you bomb for that tasteless food. From his menu, we ordered 1 Biryani for Rs 160,
Chicken fry for Rs 125 & other 2 dishes that too at very high price. In chicken fry there was only 4 small peices of chicken (while eating I thought I could have bought half Chicken tandoori in mumbai at same price) & that was not fried as name suggests. It seemed that those pieces were taken from some gravy item. And other 2 dishes of Chicken too tasted similar to each other. Very Pathetic food with very high cost. Even his biryani tasted like steam rice preparation. I think Shabirbhai Biryani wala should be strictly avioded at Matheran. What we enjoyed in Matheran was the ride in toy train from Neral to Matheran , roaming around in Matheran Market & horse riding.
