Good food and decent service, but the prime location along the river is the real star of this restaurant. During the day, watch everything from kayaks to freighters go by. At night, take advantage of the lighting on one of the best patios in Cleveland.

I took a friend from Washington D.C. here for Sunday brunch. I let her pick the place after sending her a bunch of options. She picked Merwin’s. I told her how much fun this place is during the summer, great views, nice beer menu, etc.

Boy, were we disappointed. The Sunday brunch is a buffet, reminiscent of a Hampton Inn or a Marriott Courtyard. Although the servers were very good and pleasant, the drinks good, the food was cold and below average. The Metroparks runs this place and at times you can tell. Maybe the parks dept. should stick to managing nature not operate a restaurant?

I apologized to my friend for the lousy food. It was our only meal together—we hadn’t seen each other in 20 years— and it was hugely disappointing.

Come here for drinks only. Skip the food. Enjoy the surroundings and activity on the river.

Have passed this place several times in the warm weather and have seen it from above from the rapid tracks. it looks very nice "from the air", and it was great insdie. Merwin's as is known by now, is run by the Cleveland MetroPark System, so obviously they are not in the Food & Beverage industry, but have done a terrific job here with Merwin's Wharf.

They have a gorgeous patio and outdoor section, which in-season is probably THE place to relax along the river, without fighting the traffic and parking hassles along the other East & West Bank establishments along the Cuyahoga River. Ample and free parking is available for dining patrons! The large garage type doors open in the warm weather, so you get the best of both worlds--inside & outside dining. The fireplace was lit this sunny winter afternoon, and you were able to smell that inside the dining room and it was not overpowering, and made for an enjoyable atmosphere. They also have a private side party/conference room away from the main dining area, which is equally spacious and roomy.

We all had the Friday Lenten Fish Fry, which was very filling, and tasty. THe mild pollock was battered and not greasy, and the hand cut fries and tartar sauce complimented the meal. For $12.00 per dinner, it was well woth it. There were 5 nice-sized pieces of fish, that Baby Shamu would have enjoyed as well. The service was wonderful and very attentive. The restaurant was clean, and I would recommend a return visit. The other entrees off of the regular menu really didn't do much for me, as it wasn't extensive, nor was it lacking in anything in particular. They had some sandwiches and burgers to choose from, and again, the MetroParks is not an F&B operation. Yet, the atmosphere, service, cleanliness, and food portions/prices make it a "check it ou"' place, especially in the warm weather, to enjoy a few drinks, and river traffic along the Cuyahoga River.
Good job, Merwin's & MetroParks, you have a nice place down there, best wishes and keep up the good work!! :)

Stopped to eat dinner after going to the Botanical Garden. We both had two different fish fry specials and neither was any good. I suspect their fry oil was not hot enough. Fish and fries were oily. The batter for my perch had spots of extreme saltiness, as if it wasn't mixed properly. We have eaten here in the past (6+ months ago?) and the food was better. Very disappointing.

This is basically a restaurant set on a small metropark property (and practically under a bridge) along the Cuyahoga River in the West Bottoms area. It was a nice enough place for a lunch on a summer day between two downtown attractions. At one point during our visit, a big tour boat went by on the river. We both had fish tacos, which were good. They also had salads, sandwiches, and burgers. It seemed comparable to a sports bar, but the prices were a little on the high side.
