A poor end to a great day exploring the Adelaide Hills and beyond. We were looking for something light and inexpensive, so chose what looked an interesting café. Much store is placed on organic and local produce. I chose a simple homemade pie and cup of tea and my wife, a pastie with salad. First mistake was not checking the prices. About 20 minutes after ordering we received our meals, we were he only ones ordering in the café. The pastry was insipid sludge after being heated in the microwave, a basic no no for pastry and more so for a café that touts itself as organic and homemade. My wife's pastie had very little filling and was inedible. When asked about the microwave heating, the - who I assumed was the owner - stated that there was a power outage. The question was asked, why weren't we told so that we could make another selection, the response was that it happened the moment we walked in; all the more reason to advise us of the problem and offer an alternative choice. Interesting that the microwave worked even with a power outage. The 'meal' cost $29 and there was complete ambivalence to the issue; no apology, concern or offer of another dish or refund; very unprofessional. Poor service, an overrated and overpriced menu won't win accolades. Yes, 'super friendly' until the customer reacts responsibly to a poor experience.
