We arrived after dark. Friendly welcome and introduction to the property whilst sipping a champagne cocktail. Hidden amongst the trees the tree houses are beautifully furnished and equipped and so romantic. There is a lovely lounge full of interesting books and board games to occupy your evenings (there's no TV here). The restaurant overlooks the croc free river (you can kayak or swim here) which again is so romantic in the evenings lit by tea lights. We were here for 3 nights and as my husband is not a lover of fish his choices were limited. The food is delicious and the staff delightful. The pool is wonderful and there are several walks around the hotel.

Room Tip: Take a torch to walk back to your 'house' after dark

Great location right on the Mossman Gorge and 10 minutes drive from Mossman and Mossman Gorge visitors centre. Half an hour's drive north of Port Douglas and south of Daintree. Friendly and helpful staff, rooms impecably serviced.

Slight downsides are that many rooms have no views. We were there at a quiet time of year, I wonder if the central facilities would cope if the lodge was full? There is no coffee shop and the restaurant is expensive (or at least it seemed so to 2 Brits with a newly weakened pound). The food was good but not particularly special a little bland.

All in all, very good, but not quite as good as we had expected.

Room Tip: It is worth paying extra for one of the rooms on the river (1-14h

We stayed 2 nights at the luxury Silky Oaks Lodge on Mossman River and cannot fault our stay. Silky Oaks is not just accommodation, it is a true experience. From the moment we stepped out of the transfer, we were simply immersed in the tranquil environment and greeted with the highest level of hospitality. We had a beautiful lodge overlooking the river and began our day with yoga by the billabong with butterflies paying us the occasional visit. The main pavilion is open aired also overlooking over the river. The staff and food were exceptional. We look forward to coming back.

Spent a few nights here on our visit to Australia. We found our stilted cabins quite nice and private. The grounds were well kept and the restaurant overlooking the river and rainforest quite relaxing. If your visiting without a vehicle I suggest purchasing the package including dinner as it appeared to be a much better value. I thought the wine was a bit pricey. We took two excursions 1. Barrier reef snorkeling out of Port Douglas which was fabulous. 2. Daintree Rainforest tour that was not as strenuous as I had hoped but turned out to be quite nice up to cape tribulation. One afternoon we walked about Port Douglas which was also quite nice. Suggest bringing a bottle or two back to the resort. The distance from the airport seemed a bit far but traveling to the above said places was pretty convenient.

Stayed here for 3 nights to end our honeymoon and I don't think we could have chosen better. If anything I think we wished we had more days to spend at this amazing hotel.

We had booked massages at the spa in advance so the reception staff looked after our bags and check-in while we went and got pampered.

We opted for an epic 3 hours spa package and while this was expensive we thoroughly enjoyed it and had never had an experience like it. The vichy shower was my favourite bit and I am already trying to find one in London however without the view of the rainforest it will not be quite the same.

When we finally got the the room it was lovely, we had our own balcony with a hammock and a complimentary bottle of champagne which we took outside straight away.

The bed was very comfy, we had a mini fridge and a whole separate area for suitcases and the wardrobes which left the bedroom clutter free. The bathroom was a great size with some lovely freebie bath product, it also had the best rainfall shower ever!

We ate in the restaurant for all of our meals, we could have driven into Port Douglas but we had stayed there a few days before and this was our last few days of relaxation. We did not get bored of the menu but did try a fair few dishes that they offered and it was all delicious.

I would recommend trying the kayaking, we went to try and spot the elusive platypus but sadly he evaded us. We did not try the complimentary yoga but saw where is was held and I can imagine it being a nice experience.

We are telling everyone about Silky Oaks, we are just hoping that one day we will get to visit again.
