I emailed direct and Melanie was extremely helpful and our accommodation was as we arranged and requested - a 1 bedroom with ocean views. The room was spacious, clean and had everything you needed for our 3 night stay. We didn't really like the fabrics used in the decor, however, it was colourful and cheerful and I suppose suited the beachside area.
The location was fantastic with a lot of the best eating places very close by. The bus stops 50 m away, so you can still get around the island and there are lots of walking treks also. We hired a scooter and had a day checking out the island and doing some of the walks. Best to do this on the day as the second day it rained all day so the scooter was no good. Lucky we where there just after easter and long weekend so it was very quiet.

It was very easy to phone direct and book the accommodation. The reception staff member was friendly and welcoming both on the phone and when we arrived. We'd booked a 1 brm s/c apartment on the corner of the 1st floor (Unit 2) and it looked exactly as it had on the website. It was spacious (important for us), very clean and well maintained throughout. The furniture was comfortable and in good condition and there was lots of it. Being self contained there were full laundry and kitchen appliances and the kitchen had all the necessary tools and crockery. Down the hallway were 3 locked doors so they were probably bedrooms 2 & 3 and the main bathroom, should more people be staying Our main bedroom was large with a full size wardrobe and sliding door to the balcony . The ensuite was functional and a good size. The QS bed seemed smaller than our QS at home and a little on the firm side but the pillows were excellent. A big balcony which was accessible from both the living area and main bedroom had views over a small road to a park and then Horseshoe Bay. It was a beautiful view early in the morning. Both the afternoon and mid morning sun were a bit strong but the view was worth it and we moved the chairs around. I noticed that the 2nd floor view (on the main street frontage) may not be as good since there were powerlines level with their balconies. We had only two minor negatives to mention and they were the sliding doors to the balcony didn't have locks which meant the apartment wasn't secure and we couldn't leave our camera gear there unattended. Also the main bedroom window and sliding door may benefit from block out blinds to stop the street lights at night. Lastly (and this was beyond the control of the apartment management) the night we stayed there was a noisy group of people partying in the park beside the beach and they carried on into the early hours of the morning. Because it's a small bay the noise travelled easily at night and we didn't get any sleep. I'm sure that it's not a regular problem. This was a very comfortable apartment in an excellent location with eateries, bar, park and ocean all within a couple of minutes stroll away. We would definitely recommend it, especially for couples and families who love the beach.

The accomodation was spacious. Decent sized TV. I did not like the tropical theme to the decor, but it was functional. The best apartments face straigh onto the beach. The Apartments that face onto the car park on the side have a bad view of the work areas behind the shops. Child friendly pool with a little toddlers area. Reasonable value.

Shaw’s on the Shore is a true delight. We discovered it when our previously booked hotel went sour. I cannot say enough about the cleanliness, friendliness and comfort we felt at Shaw’s. Its location is perfect to enjoy the beach on Horseshoe Bay, as it is for visiting the many wonderful establishments in the little town there. Heck, we wound up having drinks with the hotel staff at the Marlin pub, and we found them funny and very friendly. I heartily recommend Shaw’s.
