What pleasant surprise, I didn't think it would be up to much, from the outside it looks quite small, but when you get inside its a lot bigger than you think. Lots of period displays, a short film about Alf Wight and his rise to fame. A recreation of the film set and lots of puzzles for the kids, really enjoyed the hour we spent in here.

We both remember watching All Creatures Great and Small on TV and seeing the films at the cinema. This was an opportunity to discover the vet who wrote the books. It’s an excellent experience and there are plenty of opportunities to be hands on (or in!)

Having watched the "All Creatures Great and Small" series on TV we were very interested in seeing where he worked. Everything was explained so well, both his own life and the TV series. So glad we made the visit.

We have done this previously and it continues to be even better with each visit. If you are any kind of fan of James Herriot's books or the TV series, you must visit World of James Herriot.

A monument to James Alfred "Alf" Wight, more commonly known by his pen name James Herriot, the TV Series "All Creatures Great and Small", and the collected reminisces of a of Yorkshire vet in the 1930’s to 1950‘s
If you remember the TV series then it will be a great reminder, if you didn't it is still interesting as a window into a time and place that has now gone. The museum features a window into the house and the vet practice as it was then, with clips from the TV series and a small museum with a veterinarian theme. For the kids there are dedicated rooms with fun activities.
If you enjoyed the books or the TV series this is a must-see. If you didn’t you will still find much to enjoy. The visit reminded me of what a good “family” TV series it was, I should look out for the re-runs…
