Stayed here for a week with our ten year old son and his grandparents.
The cottage has plenty of different rooms meaning you can have your own space and there is scope for someone to be on the Xbox whilst someone watches Corrie and others read in the garden Room without getting in each others way.
During the day it's a great location for visiting Matlock, Buxton, Bakewell, Chatsworth etc and we had plenty of time to see the sights.
The cottage is well equipped, has plenty of TVs, board games and local information.
A broadband booster would have been good as without any phone coverage it was tricky looking up activities on TripAdvisor etc. It worked fine in places but you had to select your spot and sadly the garden was a no go.
We had fabulous weather most of the time. The cottage was quite dark so in wet weather it may be a bit gloomy but we were lucky. I guess that is just the downside of this type of cottage and wasn't an issue for us.
We spent a long weekend at Ivy Cottage with our extended family, Five adults and two teenagers. Ivy Cottage has everything you need for a great break in the Peak District. The facilities and quality of accommodation were outstanding.
The cottage has a large well equipped kitchen, a nice snug TV room along with a lovely games area (PS2). The cottage has three bedrooms - one en-suite. One bedroom with twin beds and the last room has a single along with a double bed. Lots of room for your group to spread out.
The outside area has a sun deck and two lovely lawns for outside games. The cottage also provides outside games. There is parking for two cars, maybe three if you make the most of the area but not blocking the gates.
The cottage is in walking distance of two pubs - The Old Bowling Green Winster, and The Miners Standard. Both pubs are friendly and welcoming and serve a good range of beer and ales along with some extensive food menu's.
The cottage is also well located for a couple of short walks to two neighbouring villages.
I would highly recommend this accommodation for large families or groups.
We stayed for a week in Ivy Cottage with our new 4 month old baby girl. We all loved our week there and loved the location.
The house is lovely and the separate rooms made the whole place cosy, but with enough space to use all rooms with the visitors we had.
The property is very well finished and very homely, with all the things you'd need.
The village of Winster is small (which is what we looked for) and has a lovely pub with some good beer and wine, plus a lovely village shop/post office. Food in the pub is nice too. Real fire in the main bar.
There's great walks from the house also which we did many times.
Our hosts were great when booking. We had to change dates which wasn't a problem. They met us when we arrived and also left us a basket of goodies to enjoy.
I would suggest Ivy Cottage to my friends and family. Well worth the stay.
Oh, off street parking is available also at the cottage.
We have just had a fantastic stay at Ivy Cottage. The venue is incredibly well appointed and styled, with so many usable spaces. The Owners could not have been more friendly and helpful. It was an ideal base for climbing heading out to the south peaks. The local pub is great although we ended up staying in as the cottage was so nice!
What a fantastic cottage. Surprisingly spacious and very well equipped. Very welcoming and perfect for our little girl (18 months)
The village pub (5 min walk) was great but booking a table is recommended.
Winster is quaint and I imagine perfect for walkers!
Matlock and Bakewell are a stones throw away in the car.
We would definitely recommend and will return ourselves one day.
