Made several visits to this lovely pub whilst on a week’s break in the Peak District. Menu is fantastic especially Fish and Chip special on Fridays. Lots of local ales and very nice restaurant offering excellent value meals. Great service and welcome in this lovely pub, we will definitely be returning.

Thank Sandylily

We stopped here with our dog after a lovely walk and were given a very warm welcome. Staff were friendly and had a lovely chat to some locals.
We ordered fish and chips which was top notch! The fish is battered in the kitchen and the chips are home made- you could tell as the taste was amazing.
We had rung before hand and booked a table which is definitely a must as it seems to be a very popular place.

Thank Mary B

Good food, good value, especially the "small plates" warm welcome from friendly staff but unless you can get a table at the south end of the bar near the fire save your visit for warmer times. On a cold day in February the fire at the top end of the room was unlit and the heater did not work despite the best efforts of the staff.

Nice atmosphere with a good selection of ales and wine however very average food, with a pretty poor pie ‘special’ and rubbish chips

Lovely busy pub, plenty of choice on the menu and the specials board, all at good prices. Shepherds pie £9 for example. Food was all tasty, you can see why its so busy ! Portions are big and wished i hadnt had the dessert !!
Cask beers were ok, not to my taste, 2 local beers and taylors landlord which was average. Service was quick and pleasant.
Tables are better in the restaurant, as the 1 opposite the bar is too close and you are going to get knocked as people queue at the bar. We asked to be moved from this table and got on the next table.
Dogs are allowed in the bar area, great for us walkers with our 4 legged friends !
