Okay - this is not a cheap outing but…
Three generations of our family had the most splendid afternoon tea at Stoke Park, with ages ranging from just nine up to, well, quite a lot more than that. We all came away raving about the delicious sandwiches, cakes and scones (pronounced how you like). Our new best friend, Sebastian, looked after us brilliantly - as lovely with the children as he was charming with the grown-ups.
We were also blessed with a beautifully sunny day so the film-set buildings, golf course and estate were definitely seen in their best light.
And I haven't even mentioned this is where Bond beats a cheating Goldfinger on the golf course... or where, in a later incarnation, he sees off the twisted crony of another deluded maniac in ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’… or the fact you get a lovely view of St Giles church which features in the pre-title sequence of 'For Your Eyes Only'. Only a James Bond bore would mention that.More
