“Excellent short break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2012

My husband and I have recently enjoyed a very pleasant two night stay at this hotel. As a light sleeper I requested a quiet room and we were allocated a large comfortable room with a big bay window overlooking a quiet courtyard.Perfect! The ensuite bathroom was also of a good size and well equipped. Many of the rooms are on the first floor but the hotel has a lift if guests should need to use one.

Our visit was part of a Travel Zoo deal which included dinner on each evening. We were able to chose from the 'a la carte' menu on the first night and the 'Market' menu on the second night. The food each evening was absolutely delicious with a variety of choices and was beautifully presented for every course. We were very impressed and found all staff to be friendly, pleasant and efficient.

Breakfast was the usual selection of fruit, cereals etc with an extensive list of options for those wishing a cooked meal. Here again the quality of the food and presentation was good. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this hotel and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

This was a travelzoo deal, great value. The hotel was very clean with a recent makeover in the public areas. The hotel building dates back 400 years. Room and bathroom were very spaciious, Bath was a bit of a challange to get in and out of. With our deal two meals included, sorry to say that the meal the first night was very poor.Breakfast had a very good choice. The staff were very helpful. Yes would stay there again. Take time to walk around the town and visit the church.

The Hotel was excellant. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom had lots of space ( a slightly better shower head would not go amiss but there was plenty of hot water at all times). The staff were friendly courteous and efficient. There was a high standard of cleanlinessin the Hotal. The Farmers' Market Dinner we felt was better that the Gourmet Dinner which we had on the first night. That was acceptable as we were on a Travel Zoo special rate but I did not feel it was up to the mark at full price. The Farmers' Market meal however was excellant. The breakfast was very good with a wide choice. The Villiers is situated in the middle of the town with ample parking.I would recommend this Hotel and would go again.

Room Tip: We had a room at the back to avoid the noise of traffic.

I stayed at the Villiers hotel in March 2012 for a reunion weekend with a group. We had a dinner, bed and breakfast deal. The hotel is a bit quirky in its layout as it is a historic building, but they make the most of the most space with comfortable reception rooms, bar area and restaurant. The accommodation rooms are very spacious, with nice sized ensuites and very comfortable beds ( although no feather pillows.) Good facilities included trouser press, hair dryer, decent TV, nice coffee and tea making facilities ( including a teapot) and most importantly a jug of Fresh Milk in the mini fridge which shows the attention to detail of the staff. Some of the rooms are maybe in need of a little redecoration for wear and tear but they are kept immaculately clean by the housekeeping staff.

The restaurant clearly deserves its two AA rosette rating - we had a very nice dinner. We had a pre set dinner because we were a large group but looking at the menu it has nice range of dishes using a lot of locally sourced produced. Breakfast in the same room was very nice with a cold buffet of cereals and fruit etc, and freshly cooked hot breakfast.

Overall the staff couldn't be more helpful, and this a clearly a very well run establishment that I would not hesitate to recommend and will certainly revisit when I am in the area.

Room Tip: I would suggest a room at the back of the hotel or in the courtyard if you go to bed early as the ho...

My wife and I spend 2 days at the Villiers this week, on a Travel Zoo promotion. The welcome at Reception was good and the room was spacious, massive bathroom and comfortable bed. The main problem with the bathroom was the bath, which was too high to get into and out of safely; this is a pity as a there is plenty of room to fit a free-standing shower. Coffee/tea are provided and the booklet says that fresh milk is in the mini-bar - alas, no mini-bar and unpleasant UHT milk. Food in the restaurant is good and the service matches that; wines varied are and the per-glass prices are reasonable. All-in-all, not the best place we have stayed in, but very acceptable - and in the centre of an interesting town, with plenty of parking.
