“best day ever!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2012

When I think of Mexico, I will now think of Costa Maya and Tropicante! This day was one of the highlights of our cruise, best relaxing day of the week for sure. I contacted Steve ahead and reserved chairs for our party of eight. After following Steves instructions in his e-mail, we effortlessly arrived and were directed to the best seats in the house! Taxi's are cheap, drinks are cheap, and the food was delish! $25 massage on the beach, yes please! The kids brought snorkel gear and swam around in the warm water all day. There are little shops and restaurants along the beach, some vendors on the beach may ask you to purchase but they are not pushy. Great deals can be had. Steve makes a point to visit with everyone to make sure they are enjoying their day, nice touch. The servers were the best, we never wanted for a thing. Thanks Steve and the whole gang at Tropicante for making this a day we will remember forever and oh yes, we WILL be back!

“Greatest place ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2012

This ended up being our best excursion, so much better than anything hooked directly from NCL. After taking a $2 cab ride to Tropicante, we were promptly greeted and we had incredible seats on the most picturesque beach ever! We ordered a bucket of beer for about $10 (maybe $12) and they kept making sure the ice wasn't completely melted and taking away our empties. The jalapeño poppers were amazing as was the rest of the food! The is THE PERFECT beach restaurant / bar! I can't recommend this place enough!! Also, plenty of shopping along the boardwalk-like path, with better deals than right by the port! Keep up the good work!

“Just another day in Paradise....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2012

I took my first cruise with a girl friend and we docked in Costa Maya on March 28th….originally we were to go to Belize but I’m so glad in the itinerary change!
I communicated with the owner, Steve, ahead of time and he provided us with excellent instructions on how to take the $2pp taxi into town and was delivered right to Tropicante. …..I had reserved lounge chairs the week before via email with Steve and when we arrived; we were greeted by friendly staff that showed us to our chairs.
We met Steve and another handsome dude that my friend met via work…who actually told us all about Tropicante! Steve was very friendly…easy to talk with…. and told us all about how the city came about….and answered all our questions….My friend got one of the famous $25 massages and was thoroughly pleased….while I enjoyed sitting in the sea, getting to know other fellow cruisers….. and just relaxing…..we enjoyed a margarita with chips and salsa and the local beers were good and cold….the shrimp ceviche was for lunch…. I could have easily shared and it was delicious and refreshing ……conversations were good…..service was excellent....and we were pleasantly surprised when it came time to pay the check – very affordable! This was my most relaxing day of the cruise and we will definitely be back….Thanks Steve & Gang!!

“Lovely beach. Great food.. Nice shopping”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2012

Costa maya was one of our stops in our cruise. Walk outside the port by hard rock cafe and you can get a taxi for $2.00a person. It is about 5 minutes from the port. The restaurant has its owns beach. Bring your towel. Nice beach.. Good drinks and fantastic food. You can rent a boat to fish or to snorkel. I think fishing is $75.00 for an hour and snorkeling is $20.00 a person. Make sure you order the shrimp ceviche. Ask for George.. He is the best. Shopping is much cheaper than the port. Sales people will come to you but they are not pushy at all. Prices are great. Steve, the owner is super friendly.. I asked him for a job :). Steve, if you still have the manager position open, I am very interested...

“Tropicante was absolutely a blast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2012

We arrived in Costa Maya by way of cruise ship. We took the $2pp taxi's into town, and was promptly arriving at Tropicante. I had already reserved lounge chairs online and was greeted by name as we arrived. We were showed to our chairs and began to enjoy our spectacular view. Steve the owner, quickly came by and chatted for awhile. He told us that his waiter could arrange for snorkeling, fishing, massages or anything else that the beach offered. Almost half of our group decided on the one hour massages for $25pp, while the rest went snorkeling for $20pp.
After massages, we began to order drinks that were wonderful. You have to try the lemonade! The snorkelers made there way back and were very pleased with the trip. We ordered lunch and everything that was ordered was absolutely wonderful! We even had homemade bananna ice cream for desert. Everything on the menu was very reasonably priced and delicious.
The beach vendors do come by quite often, but a simple no thank you will send them on their way. We did enjoy some wonderful shopping down the beach at the many shops. This was our most relaxing day of the cruise and we will definitely be back. Hopefully we can fly down and stay a week!
