We were at the gbh principe hacienda as it was our honeymoon waste of money dont upgrade your room.

Good Points- Cleanliness of hotel and grounds.Large selection of food at buffet but after 2 weeks it will get a wee bit tiresome. Many restaurants which is a change.Beach is lovely and kept spotless is a bit rocky though and the danger flag is always up.With it being a big hotel it is good that you can jump on the wee buggies and move round.

Bad Points- Decoration of the rooms is very poor and urgently requires upgrading i have been to 2 star hotels with better amenities in my room.Evening entertainment is very poor probably the worst i have ever seen at at hotel 30mins of a show then band until 11pm then nothing within the hotel there is a club that is open 00:00 until 02:00 strange times if you ask me.The bar staff can be very rude and serve spanish speaking customers before you even if you were there first!!!.Restaurants are sometimes very understaffed we found at weekends.

All in all ok wouldnt rush back and thank goodness never took the son.Not 5* possibly 4* at a push.

Room Tip: Dont upgrade

There is so much to stay and do in this area of Mexico, we wished we would have booked in for another week. We didn't choose this resort but went due to a wedding. It is a massive complex with the other resorts of Coba and Akumal. The grounds are well kept and the food was good. Enjoyed the a la carte Don Pablo and Le Gourmet. Would not recommend La Gran Tourtuga.

The excursions we went on offered through the Air Canada representative were all very enjoyable - Coba ruins/zipline, speed boat/swim with turtles and deep sea fishing. We also took a collectivo into Playa de Carmen which was fast and cheap ($3 each way).

The Cons were:
Very windy the whole time we were there so swimming not enjoyable
The beach is rocky
Housekeeping was done very late in the day 3pm
Free wi-fi in the lobby only

Room Tip: We stayed in 800 block and had nice view

Firstly I will start with the Bad Points to get them over and done with. This hotel is absolutely Fantastic so do not be put off by the bad points! It really was such a great Holiday.

Bad Points -
1)The Rooms are tired and need updating, however, they are very comfy. We did find that we were woken up nearly once per night by people being extremely loud in the corridors. It only lasted a few minutes each time but it was still very annoying. The rooms are in Villa Blocks of 15 I believe, so we obviously just were unlucky with our neighbours.

2)The dolphin pool is far to small for 5+ mammals. It's about a quarter of the size of the small pool for humans. I would not recommed that you swim with dolphins here!!! We went to Xcaret which was fantastic, only 20minutes drive which can be booked through your rep.

3) Deet Spray - Around 6pm each evening Deet is sprayed around the resort which you are never warned about. Deet is dangerous so I would suggest staying in your room 30minutes after this has been sprayed around. It's to make sure the Mosquito's are at bay as there are loads of them!

4) Transfer from the airport!!! After an 11 hour flight from the UK, the 2 hours bus journey to the resort was horrendous!!! (So worth it when you get there though)

Now the GOOD POINTS!!

1) The resort is HUGE! We were with 35 people for a Wedding, there are roughly 7 weddings a day at the resort. The Resort is massive but there are trams constantly running between all of the resorts and you can visit both the Coba and Akumal resorts and use all of the facilities. We found the size of the resort great as there was so many of us, so, we found that if we wanted a night on our own it was easily done!! Also, if you visit either of the other hotels it feels like you are going out for the night.

2) Cleanliness!! Absolutely spotless. The staff are constantly maintaining everything. From cleaning the seaweed off the beach to repairing the thatched umbrella's! The staff are faultless!

3) Food!!! There is at least one buffet in each Hotel, we mainly used the Tulum buffet but we found the Coba Buffet was slightly bigger and had only slightly more choice. The buffet's are massive, there are cuisine corners which are - Mexican,Italian, Oriental and then there's a fish section. There is so much choice and it is gorgeous. We never went hungry that's for sure! I do not eat deserts in the UK but here they were delicious, the Pastry Chef's are truly talented. We ate in the Mexican, Japenese, Brazilian and Meditteranean restaurants. The Japenese was by far our favourite and I would recommend that you include the show as the chef cooks in front of you and uses fire whilst throwing knife's around! We had a brilliant time at the Mexican and were forced to drink Tequila :-) with sombero's on! Do not wear trousers as most of the restaurants are not air conditioned so its very warm.

4) Drink!!! All types are alcohol are included within the All Inclusive. If you like a specific brand then ask for it and you will get it. We found this brilliant for the amount of money we paid for our holiday. Usually resorts charge for international drinks but not this one. (They are slightly watered down though so you just have to drink more!!) Take a trip up to the Hacienda which includes the Night Club and Sports Bar, most people go here after 11:30 when the Lobby bar's shut.

5) Outside the Resort!! The resort is approximately 40 minutes from Playa del Carman. 20 Minutes from Tulum ruins and Xcarat. My partner went to Playa del Carman for the Stag do and went to Coco Bongo's, all of the men from all different ages absolutely loved it. Coco Bongo's is highly recommended if you fancy a night out on the town. We didn't go to Playa del Carman in the day as its mostly just shops, some of our party went and got some cheap souveigners there. Although, most of them also got offered drugs! We went to the Tulum ruins, always take the local bus instead of Taxi's, ask the hotel for info. The ruins were great to see, we just walked round ourselves and brought a guide book. It was very hot so I wouldn't recommend taking children. Xcarat is a resort where you can Zip Wire, go in cave's and swim with dolphins. We swam with the dolphins which was one of the best experience's of my life, although be warned the picture's are ludicriously expensive!

6) Wedding! The hotel is constantly setting up for wedding's this was the only disadvantage of having a wedding here as you felt you were on a conveyer belt. Having said that, my friends wedding was under the Gazebo which was utterly breath taking, such a relaxed ceremony. The pictures from the inhouse photographer were gorgeous. It was 38degrees that day and there is no shade for the guests! I would recommend that light clothes are worn! The reception was at the side of the main pool which was very private, it was so perfect just what they wanted and they had there own DJ and bar. Roberto are waiter was amazing, you'd have another drink before you'd finished your last. We could also use the pool to 11pm which was a nice touch. This was paid extra to the normal packages but its worth the money! !

7) Akumal! 20 minutes away from the resort there is a beach called Akumal! It's such a stunning location and the bay is full of turtles! If you like snorkeling I would suggest borrowing one from the hotel and hopping on the bus. You can pay for a snorkelling trip but honestly it is not worth it. The turtles are so close to shore.

8) Beach! The beach at the resort is quite rough but if you walk further down to the Akumal Beach it's fine!

Overall this hotel is amazing and we had such a great time here. I highly recommend it, if you have any questions please send me message.

Hope this clear's a few minds.

Overall it was a pretty nice hotel, good food, nice beach and so on. An annoyance was that foot traffic has to share the pathways with vehicles, which act as though they should have the right of way. But what blew my mind was that, at 6pm as we were walking to dinner, an ATV zoomed through the crowded pathway spraying insecticide! There was no warning, and nowhere to get out of the way, so we were all holding our breaths, or trying to breathe through our shirts. It was awful! We got on a trolley to get out of the area; no joy. A short while later the ATV zoomed past us again, once again spraying us with insecticide. When we went to complain, everyone's English suddenly deteriorated, and all we could get was "it's safe". I was furious. Based on this gas attack, and their nonchalant attitude about spraying a substance they couldn't identify all over their guests, I would never visit this hotel again. There are lots of other great hotels in the area. Next trip: Barcelo Maya.

Room Tip: The Tulum hotel has better beach views than Akumal. All the rooms face the ocean, and none face pat...

We just returned from a wonderful week at The Baha Principe Coba - no complaints
whatsoever except for the people trying to sell Priviledge club memberships. They try to reel you in by calling your room and saying they just want to make sure you are having a good time and everything is OK in your room and that they have a free gift for you as a thankyou for choosing the hotel. This is really a ruse to get you to attend a presentation of their membership rates. My partner and I did attend out of interest but it was the pushiest sleaziest expereince and I would suggest any one going there stay away from these people and don't waste two hours of your vacation listening to their BS!!!

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from one of the pools as it can be really noisy late at night
