We didn’t now what to expect, we were surprised with the level of excellence. This is a quiet couples hotel in a beautifully restored century building. The hotel is kept spotless. Besides the rooms being well appointed, the best is the breakfast. Breakfast is over the top and very creative. You will have to stay here to get spoiled with the breakfast . Congratulations to Ross and Dominic for making your beautiful property feel like our home for the nights we stayed.

Room tip: Be prepared to be spoiled

I can’t recommend a stay at Manoir Chamberland quite enough.

From the moment we arrived and Dominique took the time from his busy afternoon in the kitchen to greet us, we felt very fortunate indeed to stay at this stunning property.

From the intimate, atmospheric bar to the sweeping staircase leading to the guest rooms, the interior charmed us as much as our first impressions of the exterior and entranceway.

The decor, including that behind the door of our amazing room (Number 12) overlooking the incredible pool and pool house, was all pitch perfect. Or should I save that adjective for the main floor guest lounge with not only a modern “player piano” but other amusements for guests, and gorgeous art?

In any case, our room’s silk bed and window accessories —designed by the talented Dominique—and antique furniture (including a stunning, ornate headboard: it’s not called the Eastlake Room for nothing) made the room. The lavish and spotless bathroom offered a soaker tub and generous shower. Comfy robes awaited us. Even the carefully chosen wall colour in the sleeping area, picture a Honeydew and Charteuse cocktail, was lovely.

Speaking of cocktails, we didn’t linger long to enjoy our room; use of the beautiful pool and hot tub area (the latter complete with a grape arbour overhead) was top-of-mind along with the hope of a cocktail before our dinner reservation just steps down the quaint main street. Ross came through with very generous Aperol spritzes delivered poolside on request, endearing himself and the Manoir even further to us. All this within the the first hour! He is, like Dominique, a delightful host.

Suitably relaxed and refreshed from swim and soak, we returned to the pretty #12 to dress for dinner. No need to compete for a sink or mirror as double vanities are also part of the thoughtful bathroom design.

During a leisurely walk back from our delicious meal at Le Bistro Montebello, we learned about the fascinating “Montebello time” and the sculpture it inspired, installed outside the church attached to the Manoir (I have neglected to mention the Manoir is the former presbytery of a certain Monseigneur Chamberland. Ross and Dominique can share all that interesting history with you, along with details of the amazing original features and their work on the property.

We had declined the kind offer of magazines from our hosts (which I’m certain were as glam and inspiring as our surroundings) to relax in our quiet room, excited to taste what Dominique would create for our breakfast the next day (guests select a time and choices from a menu on check-in).

We were pleased to dine on the covered terrace with very respectful physical distancing. We felt very safe during our stay overall. Enough said. On to the presentation and the food....

A delicious first course of the freshest of fruit, with a Grand Marnier twist. Secondly, a selection of pastries made on the premises —best scones I have ever tasted—along with jam prepared in the kitchen from fruit grown on the property. The third course, a custom-made delicious vegetarian crepe for my companion, and superb Eggs Benedict made with local cheese and served with boar sausage for me, were a fitting end to the wonderful meal. Plating and garnishes—super. All enjoyed on china with silver and linen. Amazing coffee and tea. Bravo.

I must close with some ravings about the pool house and the gardens. We sadly neglected to ask about design and construction details of the pool house but it had a stunning interior and the washrooms within and the outdoor shower were a nice touch.

The trees, shrubs and flower gardens are so pleasing and well tended (despite Dominique’s modest protestations) When lounging on a monogrammed cushion (our very own initials, too!) with blue sky above and just below that, the beautiful old church walls and green hills behind them, you may be transported momentarily to quite another place. Not that we wished to leave Manoir Chamberland. It is perfection.

Thank you both for our wonderful stay.

Bigger than a B&B but still with the charm of a well-run small establishment the Manor Chamberland is worthy of 5 stars. Our stay was a complete hit. Thank you Dominique and Ross. We well see you again.

We have stayed in some wonderful B&B's over the years--but Manoir Chamberland tops them all.

We were looking for something a little different in an extended weekend away---so were prepared to drive a little further to find some place special. Found this Inn on the web-----just looked and sounded like it would be special. And we were not disappointed --it was all that and more! The building in which the B& B is located is in a beautifully designed Priest's former residence attached to a now-unoccupied Catholic church---and has been lovingly restored by the Inn's owners---Dominique and Ross. The building is on a beautifully landscaped 2 acre site that just encourages guests to wander and enjoy the outdoors

Included breakfasts are served on the patio overlooking the lovely pool( heated to 85 F)--and what lovely gourmet breakfasts they are-- crepes, omelets, egg benedict- --terrific pastries with home made jams and jellies--and all lovingly prepared by Dominique and served by Ross. ( Note: you could pay $50-75 per person for breakfast at the Fairmont Chateau Montebello across the road---and not get a breakfast that compares favorably with the offering at Manoir Chamberland.

Did i mention the rooms--lovely beds with hotel specified mattresses, washroom with deluxe fixtures, high end amenities---even a small bar fridge, excellent and quiet AC (it was 30-35F outside)kept us cool in the room.

And the hosts, Ross and Dominque, are very engaging --providing history of the area, places to visit, restaurants for dinner--- we weren't there a few hours before we felt like we were long lost friends.

Room tip: we had a quiet room overlooking the pool at the back ---but hotel is set back from the road -- so noise should not be an issue for any room
