We had dinner here tonight as part of our PEI vacation. My husband had the Summer Lobster Special and said it was quite tasty but the lobster was actually a bit rubbery. I had the scallop dinner with a crab cake starter. Both were delicious and the crab cakes were the best we had ever tasted. The dinner cost over $100 with a tip for two of us (non alcohol drinks only)

Had dinner here with my wife and her parents. I choose this restaurant as we had two people that were not fond of lobster, but we saw on the menu for the pub that there were lots of choices available. However, when we asked about it we were told that they could only get that food in the pub. Seemed strange that in the same building, presumably the same kitchen, they could not offer this food in the restaurant. Website did not explicitly state this either.

I ordered the full lobster supper. The seafood chowder was wonderful, thick and full of fish and seafood. The steamed mussels were fresh and delicious as well, no complaints. My only issue with the lobster was that mine was slightly overdone. Not enough to send it back, but just enough that it was a little tough.

All in all the meal was good, just dissapointed that the pub menu could be served in the restaurant.

Our server was great, and all staff were friendly.

We were here late on a Saturday night and got the last table on the patio. It was a beautiful, bug-free evening and a delicious dinner. Two of us had the $45, 5-course lobster dinner and it was almost too much food! (seafood chowder, salad, steamed mussels, lobster, baked potato, corn on the cob and choice of dessert). We could have easily shared the mussels from one dinner and just had a second 3-course dinner. One of us had the steak and he enjoyed it - sometimes the non-seafood eaters are ignored at places like this but he felt thought it was good quality. The corn was a little soggy and the baked potatoes a little over-done, but maybe because it was the end of the night. The lobster was fabulous but we didn't end up finishing it - by that time, we were soooo full! (That didn't stop us from having a few bites of dessert, though. The chocolate brownie and bread pudding were the best. The crumble was a bit soggy.) The service was friendly and attentive and although we were among the last to be seated, we didn't feel rushed. I'd recommend it.

Our group of 7 got off to a VERY rocky start when we were told the children's menu was only available in the 1880 Pub and the lobster dinners were only available in the dining room. It seemed so dumb to me,I almost got in an argument.

We turned down a patio table with river view and were seated in the dining room at a lovely large round table. We had a wonderful waitress who bent over backwards to accommodate every request so no worries!

"Summer special" lobster dinners come with 3 courses - salad, lobster with baked potato and 1/2 corn on the cob and dessert. For the 5 course lobster dinner, they add a bowl of seafood chowder and a bowl of steamed mussels. One had the crab cake appetizer as a meal and it was enough for her. Two had the seafood Alfredo which was filled with haddock ,shrimp and scallops in a wine Parmesan sauce and topped with steamed mussels- 2 thumbs up! AND,guess what? The youngest had Mac and Cheese with a garden salad from the children's menu!! All that annoyance for nothing!

The house desserts including the chocolate brownie and cinnamon topped apple crisp and ice cream were yummy - perfect ending to a rocky start!

When I went they used margarine instead of butter. The lobster on its own was very good, but I can't quite get over this point.

I am glad you enjoyed the lobster. I did want to point out that the melted butter that is served with the lobster is indeed butter. We do use a high quality margarine served with the rolls. The melted butter with the lobster and mussels has a little lemon juice and terragon mixed in with it, perhaps that is why you didn't recognize it as butter. Thank you for taking time to review our restaurant.
