“Not overly impressed”

Although it's gluten free, I find their pricing very high. There are several places within Durham similar to this with reasonable pricing.

I also find the foods to be very greasy when eating them.

Not impressed with the service. Asking questions is like pulling teeth. Items in their freezer/fridge are not labeled with its ingredients. Food looks freezer burnt. No expirary date labeled.I bought chocolate eggs for my nephew. I wanted to ensure their was no cross contamination with any other nuts in the facility. The lady made seemed annoyed when I asked “I just want to make sure again there are no cross contamination win nuts” .... she passive-aggressively responded “it is made of chocolate and lemon”. I told her I know you said that before but I just want to make sure there is no cross-contamination with nuts. Well what happened, shortly after ingesting the egg, my nephew had an allergic reaction and had to go to the emergency department.

And yes, I agree with other customer comments, poor customer service and items over priced.

Was repeatedly assured in person by the owner that for my needs ( a couple Christmas cookies and squares) that I should call in the morning the day I needed to pick them up (Friday Dec 22, and yes they were told the date I needed to pick them up) and they would just put aside what I needed and I could pick them up in the afternoon. On the day of, when I called in the owner (same person I talked to twice before this week) assured me that, no, that would not work, they were working on Christmas orders all morning and may not get to the regular baking for the case at all that day. She then promised to set aside a few other things that were still in the case (day olds) for me to pick up, that she would only keep aside for me until 2:30.

And on the two previous occasions I talked to them this week I bought a piece of cake from the case (one day carrot, the next time pumpkin). both times the cake was truly dry and stale all the way around the edges, though was still edible through the middle.

Let me start by saying I have been shopping in this store since it opened for gifts for sugar and lactose allergic friends. I purchased 3 bars of chocolate one had the expiry date 2018! I didn't notice the other 2 had the price ticket of $6.99 over the expiry date. When I took off one of the prices today to wrap the chocolate as a gift the expiry date was 2016! I took them back expecting an apology and replacement but the young woman told me I should be grateful for what I have and glad to be alive. I was really taken aback! She went on about it being Christmas and I don't know what it's like to be a small business owner. That she doesn't have anything to do with pricing the product it comes directly from the supplier already priced! I picked up another bar to see the date so I could replace what I had purchased but it also had the price over the date. I slid this across the counter and asked her to check and if it was also expired, she said I threw it at her. She gave me back my money for all three bars of chocolate, told me she felt sorry for me and would pray for me. It was the most unsettling encounter I have ever had!

Our neighbour follows a gluten-free diet and recommended that we try the bread at this place (we are not gluten-free but we like to try new places/things). We thought that the breads and other items were very over-priced and tasteless. We won't be returning.
