Put this first on your to-do list! The people are great. The small cabins are very nicely done. The scenery is awesome. We only had a short time available to us in Sydney on our cruise, but Angelo and Jeremy worked with our schedule and gave the 7 of us one of the best experiences of our trip! Don't miss out on the homemade jam and bread as well as the tea!

Wow! We are all quite flattered that you feel this way. I must say we had a blast as well. You are a mighty fine group of folks from South of the border. We do hope you come North again.

Be well friends-

My husband and I have been sea kayaking before, and always enjoy the experience - it's a great way to see different perspectives of the landscape. I know the area around North River Kayaks reasonably well, but the tour showed us places we couldn't have seen from land.

The on-land introduction was great - probably the best explanation I've had about how to paddle a kayak (and how it's different from paddling a canoe!), even though we're relatively experienced. The company is quite flexible about whether you go in a solo or tandem kayak - we chose to go solo as we both like to be in charge! It was, however, a very windy day, so I found the paddling tougher than previous experiences, but still very enjoyable. Funnily enough, it was my legs that were sore the next day.

Our guide was great - funny, knowledgeable, and quite sensible in terms of making decisions about the route according to weather conditions. He also cooked us up a superb lunch of fish cakes, beans, and very yummy banana bread with rhubarb jam.

The landscape is beautiful, though perhaps not as interesting as one would experience in other parts of the province (or maybe I'm too used to it!), but the diversity of wildlife we saw was great - loads of bald eagles and other types of birds, and a friendly seal who kept popping up. There was also a rather lovely and accessible waterfall close to where we stopped for lunch.

I think Cape Breton is best enjoyed in the wild outdoors, and the one day tour is the perfect way to experience it.

Were hoping to do a full day, but didn't pan out, and in hind sight, half day was good. Treated to great weather (warm, sunny, albeit windy).

Justin greeted us and was as friendly and engaging as could be. He set us all up, give us basic instructions, put the kayaks in the water and were on our way. Really knowledgeable fellow, pretty good kayaker to boot!

Saw a nice eagle, plenty of cormorants, and enjoyed a morning paddling, with a light snack on the beach at the turn-around.

Really is a well run and friendly operation. They know what they're doing and do it well. Only complaint is that the other family on our tour had lockjaw and wouldn't say more than two words at a time. Like pulling teeth to be friendly with them, so we eventually quit trying. (can't really pin that on the tourgroup though!)

It just so happened, my kayaking trip ended up becoming a personalized tour do to the timing. Angelo was our guide and it was an excellent trip, to say the least. Between the Eagles and wildlife all about, a pit stop for lunch, and seeing the "Queen's land" - couldn't have asked for much more - afterwards, a family member pull into the docks and ended up feeding fish to Eagles hovering about - while Angelo and I ventured off to explore a bit more by boat before the tide of the river went out (the river has tidal currents, which makes for a unique experience)... in addition to just kayaking Angelo is also a musician and can give great references of local artisans along the circle. Part of the point of the camping trip was specifically to go kayaking, and everything else was an add which Angelo helped fill in with his advice...

Me and my husband were there yesterday and enjoyed the tour. Angelo was very sweet. It was our first time kayaking but he made us feel very comfortable. We went for 1/2 day tour. It was for decent price and we loved the tour
