It just so happened, my kayaking trip ended up becoming a personalized tour do to the timing. Angelo was our guide and it was an excellent trip, to say the least. Between the Eagles and wildlife all about, a pit stop for lunch, and seeing the "Queen's land" - couldn't have asked for much more - afterwards, a family member pull into the docks and ended up feeding fish to Eagles hovering about - while Angelo and I ventured off to explore a bit more by boat before the tide of the river went out (the river has tidal currents, which makes for a unique experience)... in addition to just kayaking Angelo is also a musician and can give great references of local artisans along the circle. Part of the point of the camping trip was specifically to go kayaking, and everything else was an add which Angelo helped fill in with his advice...

Me and my husband were there yesterday and enjoyed the tour. Angelo was very sweet. It was our first time kayaking but he made us feel very comfortable. We went for 1/2 day tour. It was for decent price and we loved the tour

My trusty (?) weather app indicated an 80% chance of rain the day before we were scheduled to take our kayak tour. I emailed Angelo and he assured me that his app only indicated 30% (or was it 40?) We awoke to beautiful skies and a warm sunshine, so headed out to find North River Kayak Tours' home. Upon arrival, I was given a cup of freshly brewed coffee and a warm welcome. Once all of the guests arrived, we had a brief instruction and geared up to head to the water. Words cannot accurately describe the experience. Angelo and Justin made efforts to include, and connect with, everyone. The water was as smooth as glass. We were shown points of interest; an enormous bald eagle's nest, an old cement pulp mill, mussel beds (fields?) and given a bit of history about the area while all questions were answered when asked. About half way through the morning, we were brought ashore to a lovely little beach with the quiet roar of a waterfall in the brush just beyond where we had beached the kayaks. A tea was prepared with cozy chocolate chai and homemade banana bread coated with a generous smear of homemade strawberry rhubarb jam. I will dream about the flavors of that for years to come! Angelo showed us where to look to see how the wind was picking up and was making it's way toward us as we happily munched on our tea offerings. By the time we got back into our kayaks and set out to return to "camp," there were light waves and a bit of a headwind. A bald eagle sighting distracted us all and added to the magic of the day. We were serenaded with a couple of Angelo's tunes when we returned and got an opportunity to check out one of the cottages he's building for overnight guests. An absolutely perfect morning with memories to last a lifetime! Thanks you, Angelo and Justin, for sharing your "office" and work site with us!

We enjoyed our day with North River Kayaks from start to finish. Our guide Justin was organized, professional and fun, the lunch was great and the paddling was awesome. Thanks for a great day on the water.

There are a thousand great things to do in Cape Breton, but this is one that should not be missed!

The setting is beautiful, the gear is in great condition and is good quality and the guides are amazing. You will be impressed with how the owner, Angelo, pays attention to every detail making sure that you have a great time and even have great snacks too!

If you are lucky enough to be near-by when they are doing a full-moon paddle either out of North River or at their other location in Baddeck you will remember it for the rest of your life!
