“Never stay here all neg reviews are right!”
Reviewed 21 May 2012

My husband and I decided to stay at this resort for the long weekend. For having spent over $450 for 2 nights and a spa visit we were definately ripped off. The beds were so hard like plywood my ribs and hips hurt. No big screen TV super soft pillows that crick your neck, a broken tv remote and once again no water view! Our bathroom sink was also pugged and our bed sheets had spaghetti sauce all over them from god knows when. When we complained the next day the red haired woman at the front just gave us excuses. Oh the sink doesn't drain because it is an eco sink. Give me a break we went out for 8hrs and it was stIll plugged. She also said because we booked through book it that it she could not help us with any issues and basically it was our fault for not booking with front desk. Service was horrible and the second night in a wood plank bed didn't make anything better. You can hear everything your neighbors are doing. When we checked out I had asked the same red haired girl why our room was not cleaned from the previous day? Her reply was that is because time shares do not clean your rooms we are not a hotel. Very un professional attitude and did not try once to resolve the issue. We will be contacting Avia west as well about this horrible crappy resort!

My wife and I booked a May long weekend here through bookit.com. When my wife called there to confirm the booking, the front desk said it was an ocen view. When we arrived, we were disappointed to discover that it was on the basement level with a bunch of shrubs blocking any sort of view. The sink was blocked up in the bathroom. The remote for the TV didn' work. The bed was like sleeping on a sheet of plywood and the pillows were uncomfotable as well. The next day we went to resolve these issues at front desk. They told us that because we booked it online, they could not do anything. She said that it was an eco drain that is meant to drain more slowly which is a bunch of crap sice there would be no benefit to this. The sink just stopped draining at all. We left for the day after they refused to help. When we arrived back to our room that evening, we found that our room hadnt been cleaned an there was no fresh towels etc. we called front desk and were told that we have to call ahead and book a "partial cleaning" and only if we stay 4 days. Later on the second night my wife found pasta sauce stains on the quilt cover. All in all I would never recommend this place to anyone, or any Avia west resort for that matter.

I am not one to complain but I feel an experience like this needs to be shared so others can make informed decisions before booking their holiday. Worst hotel experience ever! Booked our stay through a third party web page and payed in full though them. Gave out our credit card number to the hotel as a damage depost. When asked were told NO CHARGES would be made on our card. A week after our stay we were billed from the hotel for over $150. Trying for two months now to have the charge refunded and still nothing. HORRIBLE COSTOMER SERVICE!!! Would not recommend this hotel to anyone and if you MUST book a stay with them be VERY careful to check all your visa card statements to insure accurate charges are made!

This resort is quiet and peaceful in a beautiful location. We were in a small "B" unit that featured a fireplace, jacuzzi tub, couch, and balcony with a peek-a-boo water view overlooking the garden. This room was adequate for us as a couple and we got around the lack of a kitchen by brining a small convection oven and camping stove. The only downside to this was washing the dishes in the bathroom sink. The larger units we peeked at looked really awesome and every unit has a great view.

The staff here were wonderful, all very nice and informative. There was one waiter in particular that went out of his way to come up with suggested hikes and activities for us and was very friendly each time we saw him, one time even out on a hiking trail. We enjoyed the spa, the waterside hot tub, complimentary kayaks, and the restaurant was okay. The only negatives were that the garden hot tub, which we were really looking forward to, was not working while we were here and neither were the jets in the indoor hot tub. Also, because our room was the "second bedroom" to the larger unit next door, we could hear everything they said and did next door through the adjoining door. Unfortunately, the family staying there liked to get up and talk very loudly at 5am each day.

Overall, this resort is a good base for outdoor activities or just some quiet R&R. We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.

Room Tip: All the rooms looked very nice. Our small unit was fine for a couple but you should expect to be coz...

Great value at this lovely resort. Enjoyed the sunset from a hot tub overlooking the beach , enjoyed sunrise from a hot tub nestled in the rocks and a third was available by the in door pool. The kyayks were awesome on a flat calm bay surrounded by beautiful snow capped mountain and crystal clear water with great views of oyster beds. The massive salt water aquarium in the dining room was a great addition to a delicious meal. The grounds are beautiful with many vistas . Room was comfy and well appointed. A great stay .
