“The Best Place on Earth!”

We have been going to Sandy Beach Lodge for 2 weeks every summer for 22+ years. It is in an idyllic location, on the East side of Okanagan Lake in Naramata. Perfect for families, with large grassy areas where the kids can run around - our 2 daughters grew up going there every summer. The beach is gorgeous and the swimming excellent. The 22 wineries of the Naramata bench are only minutes away. Perfect...

My husband and I used Sandy Beach Lodge Resort as our headquarters for tasting wine on the Naramata Bench......2 nights in the bed and breakfast rooms. The location is beautiful waterfront with lovely grounds.....many amenities (pool, tennis, water sports) altho we did not take advantage of them. The rooms were clean and comfortable, nice breakfast buffet with one hot item was included. The log cabins (2 bedrooms, kitchen and living area with large deck) are for larger groups/family and rent for one week - we saw one that had just vacated and it looked really nice. We do hope to return for a longer stay another year.
There are several nice restaurants between Naramata and Penticton. We enjoyed the wine bar at the Naramata Heritage Inn, patio at Red Rooster Winery for lunch and the patio of the Hillside Winery. Wine tasting was great and we came home to the USA with several bottles of nice wine.....it is really inexpensive to pay duty if you purchase over the limit allowed too.

4 of us stayed in the main lodge for a girls' weekend. The location is wonderful, right on Lake Okanagan in the small town of Naramata. The cosy room has a veranda and small kitchenette. The lodge is quite comfortable with sitting rooms and dining room.
The expansive lawn area has comforable chairs to gaze out over the sandy beach and lake, with the mountains as a backdrop.
We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast included in the price. Cheesy frittata, fresh baked muffins, yogurt, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, toast. Day two featured waffles with home-made berry compote and fresh whipped cream.
Biking trails close by provided beautiful views of the valley below, abandoned train tunnels and trestle bridges.
Wineries where everywhere offering tastings for a small fee.
The resort has all kinds of activities for adults and children from tennis to canoeing.
Dinner at the Heritage Inn Resort is a must. The food is outstanding and the wine menu offers a wide range of local wines.
Jules and Gabe manage the resort and are wonderful, helpful, friendly hosts with lots of knowledge of the area.
The log cabins on the property are fully equiped and suitable for friends or family.
We'll definately be back, maybe even with our husbands!

We stayed at Sandy Beach Lodge for one week, August 5-12, 2007. The view of the lake was spectacular and there was an abundance of things to do for the kids. There is a great pool, a hot tub, canooeing, row boating, ping pong, tennis, playground, basketball, and numerous other things right on the grounds. We stayed in a cabin which was very nice but got extremely hot during the hot afternoon. It did cool off during the evening so it was tolerable to sleep. There were six of us at the cabin at some points so 1 bathroom became a bit of an issue. The staff at the resort were all very helpful and pleasant. There was an awesome 2 hour break for the parents when we were able to send our child to a craft camp for 2 hours during the weekdays to do crafts, story time, and other activities. This cost $12.00 per day and was well worth it. We particularly enjoyed the fact that there were so many activities to do right on the property. One didn't have to travel far to find something to do. The Naramata area is also full of many things to do. Wine tours are available through the many wineries in the area. The Okanagan Lake is a beautiful area. There are many interesting birds to see, and little animals around the area. It is a very laid back, relaxing atmosphere.

  • Liked — The View and the area.
  • Disliked — One bathroom and the heat in the cabin
