“Old but clean”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2011

Stayed for one night. Great view from the deck, but it was unstable and wobbly. Felt like the boards might give.
The room was very old. Carpet from the days of smokers so had that old smoky smell all be it faint. The fan was on and it was not loud, or rattly so did not affect sleep.
Bed was great. Good sleep. Pillows a bit harder than I like, but I had my own.
Simple bathroom that was very clean
Provided towels for the Hot springs.
Owner very friendly.

If you just want to enjoy a quiet vacation with your spouse and kids bathing at the hot spring, the Mermaid Motel is a good place to stay. The room rate already tells that it won't be deluxe, anyway it's worth for what you've paid if you're not demanding. The location is excellent especially with kids, no need to cross the road, just less than 50m next to the hot spring (a public facilities). Rooms are clean and tidy. The innkeepers are nice, kind and helpful.

Room Tip: The Kitchenette unit is a better choice for family.

A friend recommended the mermaid to us and we just got back from our second time in two years. Its a very peaceful, relaxing and most convenient to the hot springs. We brought steaks to bbq on the grill and chatted with the owners. No complaints.

This place is good for normal people, not for "nickel millionaires".
Clean, affordable, and location is excellent, just beside hot springs.
Between swims you can go around and see some place that you never seen before
(ghost town, glacier and more
Thank you
Peter
