We planned on spending about an hour and a half here - myself, two teens, and my mother. We ended up spending almost double that. You wouldn't think carriages could be so fascinating, but they are - you get a great sense of carriages in the Western North American experience.
The staff is incredibly helpful, the displays are well put together, and the movies are worth the time.

We happened upon this fascinating museum. It was a surprising treat, much bigger than it looks like on the outside with an incredible collection.

Great museum with over 300 carriages with interactive displays and movies. Well laid out with lots of good info and pictures. Some of the carriages are up on a second story but you only see them from the ground floor. But there are still plenty to see up close. I learned so much about the different types of carriages over the years.
Restoration area is an active area.
There are also carriage rides and beautiful grounds were you can have a picnic.
We took a side trip to see this museum and were not disappointed.

I have long wished to investigate the Remington Carriage Museum in Cardston, Alberta for several years, but never seemed to coordinate our efforts until mid July of this year. In hind site, my only regret was not visiting years ago, this facility and learning centre is stunning,

We were so fortunate to time our excursion with the recent opening of the " McLaughlin Story " exhibit, where a learned guide accompanied our small group, offering a comprehensive history of the man, his passion and collection of carriages. I was constantly amazed with the detailed information in print and video that accompanied the many carriages, truly an eye opener and walk back in history.

The restoration shop is a must see, including the stables where the equine are housed.

Take a moment to view the offering in the theatre before departing, a well presented documentary outlining the history and eventual change to gas powered transportation. Additionally, one may enjoy a carriage ride for a nominal fee pulled by beautifully groomed horses to enhance the experience.

Our summer visit allowed an excursion to the outside locations, however one could easily keep busy for hours indoors if the weather was inclement.

This is a great museum with an amazing number of carriages. It takes at least two hours to go through the museum. You can stop in the shop and talk to the craftsman that restore and maintain all the pieces. The staff was very friendly and helpful. If you have time you can take a carriage ride (costs extra) or go for a walk to the back and visit the horses, they are beautiful and friendly.
