Checking in was a nightmare of mammoth proportions. No proper snow/ice clearance had been done in days. Even if I had not been using a walker to get around, I'd still have struggled greatly to just get into the office to check in. When it came to getting into our room, slipped several times and actually had to take my shoes off and walk in my stocking feet to get over the massive ice floe between the car park and the door.
Our room was obviously a single that was converted into a double by simply cramming a second bed in. Mine was the bed butted up against the heater. And when I say against, I mean roll over the wrong way and start a fire because the blankets occluded the heat output. Even for two people, this room was a tight squeeze.
The floors, though in compliance with the national branding scheme, are dangerous for people going about in snowy shoes. Melted snow means wet and dirty floors.
Our second day there, we were nearly evicted from our room because the front desk staff couldn't read/find/whatever our reservations. We'd paid for several nights. It took a while to get that sorted out.
No doubt about it, this was an awful stay at an awful property. I'm so glad I'll never be going back.
