A beautiful old home built in the 1850's and used by the Latimer family and now run by the Wilmington Historical Society this home is one of many beautiful old homes that dot the streets.Walk the three or four streets up from the river and towards the bridge and you will see many great old homes.

Another must see for anyone interested in history. Built in 1852 this home is a great example of the Victorian era. It is well furnished with period pieces..

Make sure you get the 3 house package deal,
the lady that gave us the tour was very into this
house, and you could tell she really enjoyed sharing
the history of this house.

The Latimer House is truly a unique historic mansion - and you get a wonderful, up-close look (no ropes) at the home and the furnishings (including period clothing, family photographs, and even funeral jewelry!). The Docents (tour guides) relate fascinating details about the home's construction, the architecture, the Latimer family history, and the history of Wilmington during their lives. You'll definitely remember the stories of the un-ornamented plaster ceilings, the top floor ventilation system, the iron fencing and gates, and the "Dram Tree." And don't miss the hair wreath!
