“Swamp water for lunch anyone?”

Haven't been before and thought we should try something new. I ordered the pea and ham soup and an ice coffee, whilst my companion orders the BLT and coffee.

When our meal arrived, the soup looked like dirty swamp water with a handful of grey peas floating around and some shredded ham. It didn't look appealing and on tasting the soup, it had no flavour. The promised sour dough bread on the side was a scrappy piece of crust.

The BLT consisted of a heap of thick ugly looking bacon with a commercial potato salad and some lettuce and tomato on the side. The coffee looked lovely but the ice coffee wasn't much to rave about with icy ice-cream.

Very expensive for really poor quality food.

Waitress was very nice and friendly. Strange tasting coffee but still very acceptable.
Waffle was burnt and store bought with frozen berries... but i Guess is normal these days. Décor good and a bit retro feel. We willl go back to retry the coffee and see if the taste is consistent and perhaps try something different to eat.

Looking for a coffee as we passed through Ararat. The S.E.D.E. is smaller than its neighbour but thought we'd try our luck.
Two good lattes and a slice for a reasonable price. Decor was interesting, staff were pleasant and a couple of toilets. Bonus.
We would go back.

Went here on a busy Sunday morning for breakfast as we were passing through Ararat. The staff advised us that there would be a half an hour wait for food before we ordered which was appreciated. Coffee was good as was the smashed avo and eggs I ordered. Very yummy

Passing through Ararat and needed some breakfast. Found S.E.D.E cafe - it was early and they were not really open - but they did! Great staff - very friendly. Coffee was excellent as were the bacon and eggs.

Very popular with locals it seems as the place was soon full not late Ng after we sat down.

Well recommended - Priced moderately.
