It's a three star hotel so one cannot expect luxury so I think it deserves a good rating because it's in a good location, it's clean, friendly service, nice gardens, good breakfast, good heater/aircon, lots of tv channels (one English CCTV).

Bed is Chinese style hard

Only a few minor negatives to report. Closing the window was a bit tricky but doable. The walls are thin so you can hear occupants in the room next door but tbh if you want to avoid that, it is better to choose a 4/5 star hotel.

We stayed here for 4 nights in August 2013. The hotel is located about 15 minutes walk away from the south gate of the forest park from where (once you have paid your entrance fee) you can hop on a free park bus to Yellow Stone Village Cable Car. Costing 65rmb/person the cable car takes you to the top of a mountain where you can get some really spectacular views over the park or just enjoy a 7.5km walk along a river valley to Wulingyuan. Most of the other scenic spots are more accessible from Wulingyuan and there is a regular bus service from this hotel to Wulingyuan costing 10rmb/person single trip. Last bus back is 7pm and if you miss it you will need to take a taxi at 70/80rmb. As other reviewers have commented the hotel is showing a little sign of age but the rooms are comfortable and the A/C works wells. Room size is ok as is the bathroom with a shower over the bath. The usual bathroom accessories are included. Rooms have a balcony which has a clothes line fitted. Rooms are on 3 floors but there is no lift. Breakfast is just so so, only Chinese dishes with not a lot of choice. A dish of noodles with an added egg was our choice! Restaurant prices seemd quite high and we did not eat there although others did. Where this hotel really shone was in the friendly and helpful nature of the staff on reception. They arranged everyting we wanted with no fuss or complications, even calling the bus to Wulingyuan to stop and pick us up in the morning when we were ready to start.

Room Tip: Corner suites have got a better view from the balcony

stayed at this hotel for a night. The place look abit run down. The room was alright and have mountains view. The hotel was quiet and away from town. A short walking distance about 10 minutes away from town where there many restaurants serving seafoods. and also provision and souvenir shops. The Xiang Dian International Hotel in the middle of this small town was much better choice.

Room Tip: Xiang Dian International Hotel in the middle of the town was much convenient as many restaurant nearby and the Hotel look well maintance and it was near the entrance to the park

Pipaxi hotel is a decent hotel with clean but charmeless room, though some rooms have a nice view of the mountains.
The hotel staff is nice but with a very limited English (not really a problem because you can always makes yourself understood ;-).
Breakfast is not great...
The hotel is within walking distance to the south entrance of the park, from which many hikes are possible. It is located in the nice and lively Zhangjiajie village (the hotel is quiet).
And the national park is wonderful!
