I had never been to Morocco before and was travelling on my own, so I was a little anxious when I arrived. I shouldn't have worried though - the whole place has a relaxed atmosphere and I felt welcome everywhere. The grounds are extensive and I explored on foot in the surrounding countryside. Everyone I met was helpful and friendly, especially the gentleman working in the stables. The room I had was large and clean with a terrace overlooking the main garden area. A little dated perhaps but I think that added to it's charm. I was only here for two nights but I plan to come back for a longer stay to enable me to do some trekking in the mountains.

Room Tip: I imagine all the rooms are equally quiet as they are spread out around the garden

A lovely hotel in the Atlas foothills with extensive beautiful gardens full of diverse plants and fruit trees. The hotel itself is a little tired in places but this did not detract significantly from the stay. It is close to several small Berber villages that are very friendly to tourists and there are some lovely walks around the hotel that would suit all walking abilities. The food in the restaurant was a little limited and the quality was variable, however it was always pleasant.

Room Tip: All of the rooms that we saw were good.

Within one hour's drive of both Marrakech and Imlil, the gateway to trekking in the High Atlas, Domaine La Roseraie is nestled in an incredibly peaceful valley with mountain views. I would recommend doing a two or three day trek, then coming here for four days of blissful R&R. We were so well looked after by very attentive staff who always went the extra mile to satisfy any request, from the waiting staff to the managers, the spa therapists and the guide Sharif who took us on a fantastic trek from Imlil.
We booked through HipMarrakech who described the rooms as a little dated on their website, but don't let that put you off! We thought our junior suite was clean, tastefully furnished in a traditional Moroccan style and extremely comfortable and it had wifi. Each room is its own separate building scattered throughout the extensive and beautifully kept rose gardens, ensuring maximum privacy. There are 3 swimming pools, a tennis court and a beautiful brand new spa on site which offers a large menu of treatments and complimentary use of the swimming pool and jacuzzi for hotel guests.
The main pool area and bar is just stunning with large sun beds and luxurious sofas on the verandah. We stayed in late October and it was warm during the day and slightly chilly at night so the fire was lit in the bar creating an incredibly cosy atmosphere. The rose wine was also delicious! The menu was short but tasty and could get a bit repetitive if you're staying a long time as there are not many places to eat nearby. There is a fantastic 6km walk from the hotel into the countryside and through isolated, local villages which makes a great 2hr walk or 50 minute trail run.
I would definitely come back here, as soon as possible!

We spent the first ten minutes in this romantic sanctuary of solitude stunned and near-speechless.

Area
From Marrakech, an hour's beautiful drive into the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains. Situated near a stream, across a lush nature reserve in a micro-climate bowl/valley surrounded by mountains

Getting there
Take an old Mercedes taxi from Marrakech - the stand by the tourist police station has cars that go out of town. We payed 300 dns after haggling.

Grounds
30 or 40 acres of rose, herb and cactus gardens dotted with palm tress grassy hideaways perfect for soaking in the sun. Meandering tiled paths and several pool areas.

Room
The rooms are spread out over the compound, and ours was a junior suite opening onto a private patio overlooking the river. Was quite the calming luxury and sumptuous experience.

Service/food
The dinning hall was filled with fireplaces, rugs, great paintings and cozy armchairs and couches, and had a veranda where guests merrily sipped wine into the night, listening to Cesaria Evora. The food/wine selection was very tasty, changed daily and served by a well-trained and courteous staff.

To do
Swimming or lounging in the hotel's expansive, breathtaking botanical gardens. There's also massages and horseback riding. Outside the compound is pristine countryside with plenty of hiking and even a Berber village to explore. Note: watch out for the boy riding a donkey; he rode backwards up and down a ravine towards us, then his animal farted in my lady's face upon passing.

What a hidden gem this place is! The rooms are clean spacious and all slightly different but very comfortable. The gardens are beautiful with little hidden places to sit and enjoy time privately. It is quiet and restful. Within easy reach by taxi of other villages Imlil in particular which is a good trekking base . The food here was quite good but the pace and beauty is astounding. Friendly staff that are happy to help with anything.
