For the price and reputation, the accommodations were beyond underwhelming. Our floor and part of the hall had a perpetual stale spaghetti odor mixed with mildew. Carpets old and tattered, windows dusty difficult to open. It was like grandma's worn down Victorian that had been unkempt for decades. I'm sure for those who drink alcohol, having nightly wine in the looby for free helps change perception of the place, but not something we took advantage of nor makes up for daily service which vacuumed up our phone charger and tried to hide it until we complained. Then they were kind enough to replace with semi-new but used phone charger.
The Bathroom was large enough to be a bedroom with a simple wood shelving to place toiletries, it was quaint, a bit outdated and supplied never replenished unless we went down to lobby to pick up soap, shampoo etc.
This resort prides itself on a "Ritz Carlton" or "Fairmont" feel but delivers more like a youth hostel. Not sure how The Carolina fares, but would avoid the Manor at the Pinehurst Resort. Was told by staff they just reopened temporarily to house the US Kids Golf Tournament overflow.More
