Back again for my semi-annual visit to Ocracoke. The Clark family who owns/runs Edwards treats me like welcomed family. For summer visits I stay in the Bungalow complex, room 8 and in November, I stay in the Cottage Complex which has a few more amenities like a fridge and coffee maker. The rooms are not big but they have everything you need and really nothing you don't need. I love the simplicity and cleanliness. The Bungalow rooms do not have a fridge or coffee maker but I find I don't need them in summer. A small cooler keeps the wine and drinks cold and ice is available at the office, an ice bucket size at no charge or a larger bag for a buck. Really good coffee is just down the road at Ocracoke Coffee or the Grace Bakery truck. In fact just about everything is just down the road.
If people don't understand why your accommodations are not right on the beach or Hilton-style then they don't understand Ocracoke Island. Edwards is tucked back so more quiet. Nice people stay there too and that is part of the charm. Chilling on the porch there is one of my favorite things to do there aside from riding around the island on my bike. Edwards has become my summer 'home'.More
