My husband and I recently visited Ocracoke island,we loved it!We stayed at Edwards of Ocracoke .It was like a step back in time, everyone was so friendly the rooms were very clean and we loved the screened in porch. It was a much needed relaxing vacation. We didn't want to leave.

Lovely place very clean room and the shower was amazing. Slept better than we do at home. Bike rentals are $6/person/day but it's the best way to get around the island. No pool and the beach is a long walk too. We actually stayed June 2014. Strongly recommend taking the Swan's Landing Ferry cause the drive from the Hatteras ferry is a nightmare.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a place with a pool when in Ocracoke

We stayed here one night on our way to Cedar Island. The room was very small but clean and tidy. If staying for an extended time, I would ask for one of the larger rooms. If you miss the charm of the older motels of the 50's & 60's then these bungalows will take you back into the days of yester year.

Room Tip: The standard room is very small and if available, I would try for a larger room.

We really enjoyed our stay at Edwards of Oacracoke! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are very clean and we loved the special attention to maintaining the fifties decor, furniture, and dishes. We loved it so much we decided to stay an extra day. We had to move to a new room, but the staff offered to move our belongings to the new room while we were gone so we still got to enjoy our day uninterrupted. The location is great. We rented bikes to explore the village, but everything is really within walking distance. Sound does travel easily through the walls, but it was quiet at night. We love the village and Edwards of Ocracoke. We will be back to both!

This review is soley based on my interactions with the hotel while trying to book a room. I did not even get to stay at the hotel so the condition of the hotel is not reflected in this review:

We emailed the hotel about availability and they emails back promptly stating they had room and the pricing. They also mentioned that they do not allow dogs. I emailed back with in the hour that we have a service dog and would be brining the necessary documentation. I go no responce so I emailed again in the morning stating that we wanted the room and asked what needed to be done next. 5hrs later we recieved an email stating that they had booked the room (conveniently after finding out we had a service dog). I had a friend call and she was told that they did have room available.Shame on them.
