Colington Creek Inn
Reviewed 27 August 2011

When we stayed there in July we had two very relaxing days there...we wished it was more. The view out the windows and from our porch (every room has one.) was wonderful. The inn is a short drive from all the tourism, which suited us just fine. Bob and Mae were the ideal hosts, they made their guests feel at home! Our breakfasts were wonderful. They gave us great advice about where to eat. The Collingto Creek House was fabulous. It is just a short distance away in a quaint house turned into a restaurant.
As I write this, I am watching TV about Hurricane Irene and its devastating path. Several reports were from Kill Devil Hills. We hope and pray that Bob and Mae and their lovely inn are safe.

Room Tip: Each room has access to a screened in porch.

We spent three nights at the Colington Creek B&B and stayed in the Island room. Mae greeted us at the door and wished us a happy anniversary. The room was beautiful and the sunporch was a relaxing place to spend an afternoon or enjoy your morning coffee. Everything was exceptionally clean and well-appointed. This was our first experience with a bed & breakfast and I'm afraid all others will now be compared to this and it is going to be hard to beat! Breakfast was great (breakfast quiche, sweet-potato pancakes, and french toast on the three mornings we were there) and included fresh fruit each morning. Each night we had a snack waiting for us either in our room or in the common dining area. One night we had the best sugar cookies I have ever eaten. We brought our boat and Bob was very helpful in pointing out some fishing spots. The location is also great...off the beaten path, but close to all the things you want to see. The Wright Memorial, Jockey's Ridge, Manteo, The Lost Colony, etc are just a few minutes drive. We dined at the nearby Colington Cafe for our anniversary dinner, which is also on tripadvisor...I highly recommend and Mae said it was her favorite as well.

Room Tip: Ask for the Island Room!

Mae and Bob, the owners, were so wonderful! The rooms were impeccable. The decor was top notch. The breakfasts were heavenly! We have recommended them to all of our friends! I accidentally left our beach towels there(so now I have an excuse to go back!)

Room Tip: all are excellent!

We just returned from our first trip to the Outer Banks, NC. The Colington Creek Inn made the trip. The Inn is tucked away in a beautiful location surrounded by the water of Colington Creek. But is also centrally located to the beaches, restaurants and activities of the OBX. Greeted by the Innkeepers, Bob and Mae, you immediately feel at home and confident that you chose the right place. The Inn is immaculately kept with attention to detail in every room. We stayed in the Island Room, with the decor theme focused on the island feel. But every room is beautiful and well kept. We were able to see all of them during our stay. Each room has a private sun porch area. Great place to read, view the water, watch the birds, and enjoy the relaxing music playing in the background. An inground pool is available and was a nice treat each day when we returned from the beach. It was such a relaxing atmosphere as well with the music playing and the tranquil surroundings. We looked forward to Mae's delicious breakfast each morning which varied from sweet potato pancakes to a crustless quiche. Every night when we returned from dinner, we would find a delicious dessert awaiting in our room. So many special touches that you don't find at all B&B's. Bob and Mae were also very helpful with dining suggestions. One of which was the Colington Cafe a few minutes away from the Inn. It is a great fine dining choice with reasonable priced food and wine. We highly recommend the Colington Creek Inn if you are looking for a quiet, beautiful place to stay in the OBX.

This was a wonderful B&B - the cleanest, best set-up B& B we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in quite a few B&Bs. The rooms were spacious, everything was immaculate. All rooms look out on the intercoastal waterway. In addition, the food was excellent, we were greeted with wine and cheese, and fresh snacks kept appearing in our room every night. Each room had it's own small refrigerator, with fresh snacks and soda. The hosts were very friendly and went out of their way to make our time on the Outer Banks just perfect! A bit away from all the honky tonk aspects of the Outer Capes, the house was a peaceful oasis and in striking distance of hiking, kayaking and anything else one would want to do in the outer banks. Truly, the best B& B we have stayed in
