Guaranteed you can stay at a resort in San Pedro, or you can come to Lower Dover and get a REAL experience from the ATM caves in Tikal, to hanging back and getting a homecooked meal every night for dinner and in the morning for breakfast.

Maddy is an amazing host, and provides extreme attention to detail, meaning less worry for you, and more fun while your here! As an example, we mentioned we might like to attempt to take some coconuts from the many trees after our hike - she had 6 coconuts ready for us when we came back from our hike, sitting in the fridge!

Come here to kick back, explore, on a budget, or have every whim catered - you will not be disappointed. .

Room tip: Get your own cabana if you can (assuming they aren't sold out!).

Our family of six stayed in two rooms for three nights and ate all of our breakfasts and dinners on site. Talk about an amazing experience, from the great hospitality and occasional torrential rains to the food, comfortable rooms and advice on worthy attractions and travel guides. From LD we explored the ATM caves that were part of a Mayan temple complex with an expert archaeologist, drove perhaps a half hour to an amazing Mayan city center complex (occupied for almost 2k years), rafted through caves and enjoyed great conversations with fellow guests. Maddie and her husband have owned the place for about thirty years and they have a wealth of experience/knowledge far beyond what would be offered by a concierge. AMAZING!

Room tip: You want an authentic rain forest experience in the heart of Mayan country? You Got It!

We had the absolute best time at lower dover. Maddy and all the animals, especially Bobo, are the best hosts ever! The homecooked food and hibiscus wine is really good! We loved taking the dogs for walks and exploring the 100 acres and partially excavated mayan ruins all on site. The river views were spectacular. Highly recommended. Maddy can arrange all your tours with the best guides in the area too.

Thanks Maggie for the 5 star review! The dogs were so happy to be your four legged guides on the jungle trails. Come back to visit us again!

Homemade hibiscus wine, excellent home cooked breakfast and dinner, partially excavated Mayan ruins on the property, good access to amazing things to experience, nice cabins (this is not a luxury hotel), and Madeline, who is a wonderful, informative and entertaining host. We had an amazing time and highly recommend it.

Thanks Doug for the thumbs up! Very cool that you were able to experienced the best of western Belize in only a few days. Glad you set aside time to visit our on-site Maya ruins and explore our jungle trails at Lower Dover too. Cheers to preserving the jungle habitat ..one tree at a time.

Stay here! The rooms are clean and comfortable, there's a natural swimming hole and jungle walking trail where you can see all kinds of animals, a kitchen, healthy meals available, pool table, house made infused wine, easy access to the bus and some local eateries. Also Maddie is beyond accommodating- loved her.
